If you don't mind my asking, what state do you live in? Where I'm at (NC) you have to be a registered Dem to vote in a Dem primary and a registered Rep to vote in the Rep primary. You're just shit out of luck if you are an independent or a third party person.

In Ohio. We can vote for who we want regardless of affiliation. In fact we just register to vote they don't ask what party which is really cool. It adds a bit to freedom that some states lack.

Wow, at my polling place they asked Dem or Pub and gave you the ballot. I gave my drivers license and signed a log book that had my name and signature there for inspection. Nothing about party even came up, "What ballot do you want?"

Was beginning to believe it was me, then I heard the same story from several others.

I've applied to everything from government jobs and state jobs, to delivery and factory/warehouse jobs, to food service and sales....

Not ONE call back.

It's depressing when not even Taco Bell, McDonalds, or Burger King will give you an interview.

I can't figure it all out, I have a solid employment record, good references, some college education, loads of charisma.... haha...

Every state thus far, and granted McCain has no real opponent, but even before that, Democratic ballots are far outnumbering GOP ballots. It's not even up for debate. it is lock stock and barrel.

Have you called any of them back or followed up at all? Only submitting resumes and not following up yourself is going to make it a lot harder. You have show more initiative.

Actor Jeff Daniels from Dumb and Dumber has been doing those same radio spots for several years in Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas.

I worked for a large national company for 10 years. About 5 years ago, they bought a well known competitor out of bankruptcy. Within 1 year, my company had moved as many jobs as they could out of California to Texas. High wages and the costs of state labor law implementation made it uneconomical to keep the jobs in CA (at least that was their perspective). They looked at Michigan and several other states who offered lower wages, tax breaks, etc. to get the jobs.

When I have posted a job opening in the paper or on the internet, I have frequently gotten 250+ resume's within a few days - for one position. It's too easy for people to email an application or resume', even when they have NO qualifications for a position.

I am not suggesting that is what you are doing, only pointing out that for a hiring manager, it is tough to wade through every applicant. Usually, they pick the first 3 - 5 that seem to be good candidates, interview and hire. The remaining 245 don't even get looked at unless they are specifically forwarded by someone who knows the hiring manager.

Not saying it's right, just frequently the way it happens.
