Anybody else here asking themselves this...?

Hey, Brywool...

I definitely have asked myself that question. When I was in my early 20's, I had cut my hair short, had grown a beard for a while, and was busy trying to be an "adult". BORING!!! I then figured out that as long as I had my priorities in order and handled my responsibilities first, the rest was play time and I deserved a little more latitude. Now, I'll be 40 in a couple of months, I have long hair, and I rock harder than I ever have. I do sometimes wonder if I'm the only one my age that blast his music as loud in his car (not too loud, but still noticeable from another vehicle).

I'm NEVER getting old, dude, and it's time for fun. I plan on traveling more and enjoying myself much more than before, and I'll never stop rocking -- in fact, when they put me in an old folks home, I'll hit the chair and start rocking!

Call it mid-life crisis or whatever, but that's how I'm gonna roll!

I'm fourty-friggin'-five here.
Is anybody else here asking themselves this:

"Shouldn't I have outgrown this stuff by now? Why do I care? Shouldn't I be doing my banking or something?"

and...

DISCUSS!

I'm fifty and I live for my music. I'll never blow it off - when I am into something, I am passionate about it! And I am a registered nurse, raised three kids and happen to be in school now for an advanced degree. The point being that I DO have a life, and this just makes it richer! :)

Rip...I couldn't have said it better myself! You're the man!

Hopefully we won't be in the same nursing home, because I don't know if I could take Vinnie Vincent for the Early Bird Special. 8)

I still crank the tunes in my car...got a killer system. I get looks from time to time, especially from young 115-pound punks.
But around town, it was well known...when they got home at night
Their fat and psychopathic wives
Would thrash them within inches of their lives!

Fuck no, music is a lifelong hobby/passion that should be pursued your whole life. It's a very fulfilling habit that can lead to a lot of good times. My old man and I are great friends and a lot of it is because our love of music has given us so many great times. We've recorded together, gone to countless concerts, watched concert DVDs around the house, learned everything we could about our favorite bands, exposed each other to new music, it's all been good. I must have seen a hundred shows with my dad, starting when I was 6 when he took me to see The Little River Band and Seals & Crofts at the old Richfield Colliseum in Ohio. During my late teen years, nothing beat going to a concert with my dad, enjoyin some good tunes on a hot summer night and cooling off with the beers he snuck me :D

Hope to do the same with my son some day... that is, if there are any bands still worth going to see by the time I've got a son old enough to go to concerts with me. I might not be so lucky.

I hear that. My six year old has already been to 25 concerts (albeit way back in the grass, to protect his ears)...he's seen, among many others, Boston, Journey, Def Leppard, Night Ranger (his favourite), the Outfield, Rush, Sting...and we save every single ticket stub, take pictures...

Man, I still haven't gotten to see Rush. Probably one of my most criminal concert omissions so far. But yeah, enjoy it. It's definitely a great way to "bond" aside outside of watching/playing sports. Hopefully he'll end up loving music his whole life like I will for it.

LOL -- How did you know I like Vinnie Vincent? :P Hey, I consider blasting the stereo for young punks these days an educational service!

I got the "rock horns" from a guy the other day when I was bumping around in town grooving to some Dokken. You'd be proud! :D
