"Voice"

Postby venomnation » Fri Mar 07, 2008 2:59 pm

I was digging through the "archives" today, hunting down stuff for a friend...and came across Neal Schon's "Voice" album....an actual CD of it, nonetheless...

Have any of you heard it? (I'm sure some of you have...) -

I listened briefly to some of it, and I'm left thinking "what was he thinking"?

Thoughts?

Talk amongst yourselves.

I don't have any of Neal's records, but I believe this is the one he did to show everyone his soft side, that he can emote/sing with his guitar -- not just shred. Isn't this the record where he covered well-known ballads? Maybe the Neal-ites can elaborate.

I have the CD and Neal autographed it for me at one of the shows. I think it's beautiful. It was also nominated for a Grammy. His interpretation of "Why" really gets to me.

I'm not saying it's not great performances.....and so be it if he can get himself a grammy for ANYTHING, I say go for it...I just...I don't see him in those types of songs.....and moreover than making me wonder why HE did it...I'm wondering how I could ever be fooled into thinking maybe he would "rock up" those songs lol. :D

He did to say his guitar is as haunting as say, Celine Dion's voice.

I think it's fucking stellar!

Deano is right. It is stellar & his guitar "speaks" way better than some of those shredders out there. Not everyones cup of tea but a great, great CD.

This is a good album for Neal, but muzak-like cover songs album don't attrack me much. My main problem is not Neal's playing it is the all keyboard accompaniment.

I love it. not many artists can jump between genres so expertly. it's a masterpiece.

my favorite is the Bonnie Raitt tune, I Can't Make You Love Me. it's smokey, it's bluesy, it's painful, it's sensual---it's amazing.

imho. wanna know what i really think of it?

I really enjoy this album. Whenever I'm angry, upset, depressed, ill, stressed or whatever listening to this cd instantly takes me to a better place. :)
