Well I guess no one from here made the trip. Too bad because you all missed an awesome show. Although I STILL prefer the full current styx show I've changed my impression on dennis. Even though he is on his own he can still kick ass with all the styx songs although tommy/jy are soley missed on them they still sound awesome. The tunes from his new cd are actually pretty good I might recondsider picking it up. Your's truly will always be in the current styx camp but now after tonight I may consider seeing dennis more and more whenever he decides to come around. Here was the set for those interested if I forgot anything feel free to add on. There not in the complete order of course.

Grand Illusion
Lady
light up
lorelei
100 years
save me
desert moon
pieces of eight
show me the way
best of times
babe
prelude 12/suite madame blue
castle walls
rockin the paradise

I'm pretty sure that's it. Again if I forgot anything feel free to add on.

I just got back from the show :) Of course I thought it was a GREAT show and I had a GREAT time! :D A lot of newbies were at this show - he usually asks the crowd who is seeing him for the first time tonight and it was louder than usual. Last time he was in Green Bay he performed with the orchestra in addition to his band. I didn't know what was going to happen when he mentioned that he was a Bears fan - LOL He did get the crowd going with his remarks about Favre :)

I'm looking forward to seeing him again here soon.................

Here's the setlist:

Intro: The Message
Grand Illusion
Lady
Lorelei
Don't Let It End
Show Me The Way
Light Up
Mr. Roboto
Castle Walls
Desert Moon
100 Years
Pieces of Eight
(Guitar Solos)
Rockin' The Paradise
Save Me
(Prelude)
Suite Madame Blue
Babe
Best of Times

Come Sail Away
Suite Madame Blue

Having been to Green Bay...I don't blame them

That being said...hats off to Mr. Favre for one heckuva career. Even as a die hard Bears fan I can applaud the talent.

it's going to be wierd on sundays this fall, that is for sure, last time anyone but Favre started a game at QB for the packers, I was still single and still able to hold my liquor

times change, that's for sure.......I dont think I will go back to drinking the way I used to though, cus I really dont miss the hangovers ! 8) 8) 8)

of course, being unable to stay awake much past 9 puts a damper on participating in the bar scene.

on the other hand, maybe a change in QB's will bring a bit of excitement and suspense to Packers games !

BTW, I thought Lovie Smith's reaction/quote regarding BF's retirement was quite classy
( what ? Packers and Bears fans showing mutual respect ......Geez, what's next....peace in the middle east   )

Well there's always near beer for ya  The bedtime...another matter altogether.

While it goes against nearly everything a true Bears fan would believe, many of us truly can appreciate his talent and longevity...that and breathe a sigh of relief that the reign has ended. Even one Mr. DeYoung (see next post)

DeYoung lights up night at Meyer

By Warren Gerds
wgerds@greenbaypressgazette.com

Two recurring themes ran through showman Dennis DeYoung's chat between a slew of classic rock hits Friday night at the Meyer Theatre – his age (which he didn't disclose) and Brett Favre.

"Is this any kind of job for a guy my age?" he asked the crowd of nearly 900 (capacity 982) after sending his soaring voice through another beaut of a song.

DeYoung turned 61 last week.

He performs with style, flair, energy, discipline and fire. It's no wonder he referred to Favre time and again.

At first, that was a bit kidding. DeYoung is from Chicago. He noted in the time that Favre played, the Bears went through "350,000 quarterbacks."

He led the crowd in a cheer – "Here's to Brett Favre, hip hip hoorah, hip hip hoorah, hip hip hoorah."

At the end, turning philosophical, DeYoung talked about finding love with a person and sticking with it. "It will get you through a lot," he said. DeYoung had just danced on stage with one of his backup singers, his wife of 38 years, Suzanne.

He also said winners are losers, like Brett Favre. That didn't make sense until he followed up with, "You get up and give it one more try."

Sound entertaining? You bet. Of course, the meat of the concert was in the music. It was two hours straight of songs he wrote with Styx, with the addition of 1990's contemporary spiritual "Show Me the Way" and the soon-to-be released prayerful rocker, "One Hundred Years from Now."

The worst part of the concert was the blinding displays of light into the crowd. What's the point?

The best part was the lean guy in the black jacket, black shirt, black slacks and gray hair who strode about the stage, punctuated notes with gestures and let loose probably one of the longest notes sprung by a sexagenarian, something like 37 seconds.

With his electrifying five-man band plus two back-up singers, DeYoung performed his songs that spanned from love and sentiment ("Lady," "Babe," "The Best of Times," "Come Sail Away") to satire and social commentary ("The Grand Illusion" and "Mr. Roboto").

For "Mr. Roboto," DeYoung pulled out a mask of a robot and flashed it around for effect, and his bassist donned eerie glasses and moved with jerky motions. In the concert, DeYoung added a line to the 1983 song following "too much technology" -- "Think about it."

DeYoung's crowd did some old-fashioned things, like sing along (when asked to or not), stand up and cheer and roar mightily for an encore (which was "Come Sail Away)".

They also did new-fashioned things, like take a lot of photographs of each other and the show with their cell phones.
