In Wisconsin....Styx/Boston & Cosmo/DDY

Postby SuiteMadameBlue » Sat Mar 29, 2008 2:39 am

Since the Boston/Styx assembly line turned into a mess, I thought I'd start a different one, but a Twilight Zone one - LOL

In June the band Cosmo, which features a few past members of Boston and that will be performing some of Boston's songs will be opening for Dennis here in Wisconsin. :D :D :D

Later in July, the band Boston of course which features past members Tom and Gary and later band members with the GREAT addition of Michael (Sweet) will be HEADLINING with Styx as the opening band, here in Wisconsin.

Both venues are close to my house (yes, I can brag!) :D For those that are huge fans of all members of Styx and Boston, will be treated to great summer shows, IMO.

If all the touring (living) members of Styx and Boston, past and present were reunited together in their bands (today) and on a double bill, I wonder how would those shows would be doing for a Summer of 2008 tour. :?:

I think the only Styx-related show I'm seeing anytime soon is DDY's Hunchback in Chicago.

All the members of Boston got back together for A Tribute to Brad and it wa a mess behind the scenes. You think there is hatred between JY and Dennis. The Boston members make them seem insignificant. They absolutely will never get together again.

They should form a supergroup of the most difficult musicians to get along with...we'll call them the Primadonnas. Who would you put in the lineup? I'll start with:

Vocals: Dennis DeYoung
Guitar: Tom Scholz

Where are we all going for dinner before the show? :D

I can't believe how fast that's coming up. I'm looking forward to seeing those shows. I think I'm going a few more times after with friends that couldn't go the first night. I can't wait...........

I'm hoping to see about 5 or 6 more Dennis shows this year yet, hopefully a Canadian one too. I'm due for a long road trip

I personally wouldn't call either one of those musicians Primadonnas, IMO. I had no idea that after you met both of them you feel they are difficult to get along with. Sorry to hear that.

There are so many rumors about Tom Scholz being difficult to work with. Or maybe it's just the perfectionist in him.

I doubt that the best place to go for an honest/accurate assessment of such matters is an artist's fanbase.

I think that's a pretty good start...sadly if you put the most difficult musicians in the same room together you'd probaly get the best album ever.

Mine will be 11 this year too. I bought him some new clothes for his first communion (2 years late because of his PDD), and he really no longer looks like a baby, but like a little man. He's already 5'1". Another 6.5 inches and he'll be as tall as mom.

Wow. Weren't they just born yesterday??? :?

I'm just going that opening night with the after party or whatever it is. If DDY plays somewhere convenient AND the show is different enough maybe I'll see it again.

As for dinner, well, I know where I'll be lol

Now if I had my own plane I could fly from Halifax on the morning of June 7th to Milwaukee and get there in time to see this, but since I've given my personal pilot and crew that particular weekend off (this is my attempt at being a smartass here), I won't be able to make it.

On a good note, my baby brother is getting married on the 6th!!! (Hence why I can't make it, family first!!). I'm going to wind up crying that weekend no matter what I do because I'm a big sentimental sop and cry at weddings!! LOL!

Suite, will you take pics of you-know-who for me pleeaassseeee??????

I wonder if Kyle or Tom will be on drums?

DDY's overbearing behavior while he was still in the band is well-documented. I'm sure he's not very easy to work with. But he was the only one willing to take on a lot of responsibilities for the band's success while JY and Tommy were snorting coke on the tour bus, and the Panozzo brothers just did their jobs.

There's no question that DDY screwed the pooch with Kilroy...my least-favorite Styx album. But the others could have stuck to their guns when they fired him for writing Babe...then realized they weren't going anywhere without him.

For all DDY's faults (and there are plenty), at least he's not still going around holding a grudge and bad-mouthing his former bandmates. If he was, I'd certainly have a problem with him. Even Tommy gave up on the bashing long ago.

JY's continuing barbs directed at DDY are not even the main reason I dislike him...it's his ridiculous attempts at re-writing the entire history of the band, as if DDY had no contribution ("our former keyboard player"). Sorry JY...he provided most of the musical direction for the band.

If JY hated him so much for all those years, why didn't he form the James Young Project and put out a solo album??

What's that, you say? HE DID?? I had no idea...

Pretty big assumption, there. Yet you present it as fact. Why am I not surprised?

Agreed it has been some time since we've heard anything publicly negative from DDY about anyone from Styx. I'm pretty happy about that too.

Dennis has been waiting paitiently for the remastering of Out On A Day Pass to be completed so that he then can reveal to the media that JY has in fact had a sex change operation.
