Escape or the original Frontiers? Songs are below

Escape
Don't Stop Believin'
Stone In Love
Who's Crying Now
Keep On Running
Still They Ride
Escape
Lay It Down
Dead Or Alive
Mother, Father
Open Arms

Frontiers
Seperate Ways
Send Her My Love
Chain Reaction
After The Fall
Faithfully
Edge of The Blade
Only The Young
Ask The Lonely
Frontiers
Rubicon

Frontiers makes a MUCH STRONGER STATEMENT here....

Frontiers in a huge fuckin landslide. Every one of those tracks kills. Escape is overrated, great but overrated. Keep on Runnin and Dead or Alive can't hang with songs like Rubicon and Chain Reaction in my book. The hits from Frontiers are more enjoyable for me as well. Stone In Love is the only "hit" from Escape that still kicks my ass.

Tough choice, The fact that Faithfully and Edge of the Blade are back to back on Frontiers kind of puts it over the line for me . I love Edge of the Blade , and I love the way that it follows Faithfully forming kind of a sad and angry sequel.

First the sweet ballad about never ending devotion , then the fist pounder about it all being ripped apart.  Gotta Love it!!!

Both great albums, no fillers there. I think for the casual fan, it's Escape; for the hardcore, it's Frontiers. I know when I first played ESCaPE, I was beside myself, took me to another world. Now that I've heard those songs on Escape a thousand times (on dvd and cd, plus radio), Frontiers starts to take on more deeper meaning.

I dunno. With the inclusion of OTY and ATL...Frontiers is a VERY stong album. But my problem is that Troubled Child isn't on there anymore (like that) and I LOVE that song. I can't listen to the studio version of EOTB without TC following it. So...I'll say Departure.

One of my Journey memories was hearing ATL for the first time. One of those, had to keep car radio on after parking so it'd finish.

Out of the blue since there wasn't any new album for it.

OTY when I saw the movie and I like TC so not a biggie that these weren't on the original album.

Maybe so...but I still love the song, as depressing as it may be.

absolutely. and I'm with Ehwmatt on your comments as well.

Escape tends to be a little too pop-py for me overall-- but I guess that is why is had so much more general appeal, though.

Escape
Don't Stop Believin' +
Stone In Love +
Who's Crying Now -
Keep On Running +
Still They Ride +
Escape +
Lay It Down -
Dead Or Alive -
Mother, Father +
Open Arms -

Score = 2

Frontiers
Seperate Ways +
Send Her My Love +
Chain Reaction -
After The Fall +
Faithfully +
Edge of The Blade -
Only The Young +
Ask The Lonely +
Frontiers -
Rubicon +

Score = 4

Frontiers rates higher with plus songs than negative songs, but I still prefer Escape because I love the plus songs on Escape that much.

Sub Troubled Child in for Frontiers, and the edited Frontiers is the perfect album for my taste. Hard, sensitive, experimental, driving... Wonderful.

Okay...I'm confused! Since when was "Only The Young" on Frontiers? Wasn't "Only The Young" originally released on the "Vision Quest" soundtrack a couple of years after "Frontiers" was released?

I believe that the newest re-release of Frontiers has both Ask The Lonely and Only The Young added on to the disc?

I just checked - The original post says there are 11 tracks listed, quote "Escape or the original Frontiers? Songs are below". So that may be the version that was suppose to come out.

Here is the 11 track list from the original post by tpoh:

1. Frontiers
2. Seperate Ways
3. Send Her My Love
4. Chain Reaction
5. After The Fall
6. Faithfully
7. Edge of The Blade
8. Only The Young
9. Ask The Lonely
10. Frontiers
11. Rubicon

Here is the version of Frontiers we had to settle with before the re-issues, 10 tracks:

1. Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)
2. Send Her My Love
3. Chain Reaction
4. After the Fall
5. Faithfully
6. Edge of the Blade
7. Troubled Child
8. Back Talk
9. Frontiers
10. Rubicon

And here is the re-issued Frontiers 14 track list:

1. Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)
2. Send Her My Love
3. Chain Reaction
4. After The Fall
5. Faithfully
6. Edge Of The Blade
7. Troubled Child
8. Back Talk
9. Frontiers
10. Rubicon
11. Only The Young
12. Ask The Lonely
13. Liberty
14. Only Solutions

Frontiers is great though.

Thanks for the clarification. I find it beyond goofy that "Frontiers" was re-released with tracks that were never even part of the album. That seems sooooo non-sensical to me. If it wasn't on there in the beginning, why add it 20+ years later???

It would boost that albums sales in the rerelease. Those songs didn't have a home otherwise.

i'll always be partial to escape because its the absolute first album i ever played to death over and over when it first came out and i never got tired of it.forty minutes of absolute great music,i love dead or alive as equally as any other tune on it.my favorite for a long time was keep on runnin'.always liked mother father and still they ride.i think lay it down has some of schon's heaviest guitar work of any journey song after perry joined.the whole album is a complete masterpiece.

Great taste Rick! It's way up on my list too.....love the contrast of their vocals on it! The live version on Captured is great!
