From what I have read HGH and drugs like it are considered 'wonder' drugs. They actually can restore youth in certain muscles with limited side effects. HGH and other similiar type of drugs are NOT classified as steroids. It is almost like they restore youth so the muscles can recover faster and as strong as they were in the individuals prime. This restoring of muscles totheir strength in youth can last for years with minimal side effects if you follow a doctors instructions.

While the vocal cords are muscles, I can't imagine HGH or any other kind of bulking/weight lifting type supplement having that great of an effect on them. If you want really bulky vocal cords to sing like Ciaphas from Jesus Christ Superstar, that might work. But regular exercise and diet is what you really need.

If recent photos are any indication, it looks like SP has been working out. Very fit, hot MAN! Yes, I'm a loon.

You don't want to have to use even the legal ones for a long period of time because of the side effects. No effect on voice that I've ever heard.

PS - not a doc, an ER nurse for 30 years.

Learned a little about the steriods in Brett Hart's book 'Hitman: My Real Life in the Cartoon World of Wrestling'. I used to be into wrestling years and years ago when the Harts were big. Great book on the world of wrestling, it's characters  , and the huge Hart family growing up in Calgary. Great technical wrestler, classy guy, well respected by his peers and great humanitarian. Quite an interesting read.

And in San Francisco? You've probably seen some very amazing things. I know a plumber that even refuses to snake pipe in San Francisco.

How long will you have to recover from the surgery before you sing and will it affect your technique at all?

Recovery will be about 3 weeks, and it won't affect my voice/technique at all. It will improve my breathing greatly. I currently have a polyp the size of an almond basically obstructing my entire left nasal passage, and my septum is deviated to the right by about 45 degree angle. This gives me about 30% efficiency in nasal breathing and having all of this corrected should be a huge boost in power and stamina. I'm actually really looking forward to it (not the recovery though...ugghh!)

If nasal passages have a direct correlation to increased air intake go big Jeremey. Heck, it worked for Perry. Think of it as a natural supercharger.

Trust me they do..I have severe allergy and sinus problems..plus minor asthma. Lost of times I feel like I'm breathing so shallow if you will.
Shoot..with my asthma..I can't even be around a campfire..it's horrible.
Anyway..all three of the above for sure affect air intake. I didn't grow up with allergy or sinus troulbe..but always had a little bit of trouble breathing after playing sports.
The older I got I started to get some allergy and sinus symptoms..but didn't really realize how severe they were until I realized they were getting worse and affecting my breathing..hence air intake.
The idea of people smoking and singing blows my mind..because I have never smoked yet my lungs feel tight at times due to the above three things..so much sometimes that I don't even feel like trying to talk.

Go to www.hgh.com it has some great info on HGH and the aging process.

A few years back when there was a 60 minutes ll television show they did a couple of stories on HGH and how it helps restore muscles at least short term to youth. They also did a show wher children that fell off the growth curve were given ( they gave themselves HGH( differnt type of HGH) shots and this allowed them to grow. I swear this is true!

Collegiate Baseball magazine also has written articles about HGH, and how it can enhance performance.

So what happens if Steve Perry starts working out again using his voice. He gets these muscles as strong as possible for his age and years of inactivity.

Would HGH or a similiar drug under a doctors care bring him close to all the way back??

I dont have a clue to this answer. Shi.....t, I dont know for sure if his voice is shot.

All I do know is what I have read, and what I have seen when used by athletes.

Again, it has been said that it is one of the SAFEST drugs if you follow the instructions given by a qualified doctor.

Bret Hart is one of the most over rated wrestlers EVER. I've never seen anyone moan as much as that man. He had some serious issues - still does. Cant stand the guy .. from what I've seen.

If you have ever seen the docu "wrestling with shadows", all he does in it is moan, like the world is against him . Ridiculous/

rant over.

All wrestlers are overrated. Shit, it's fake...entertaining, but fake. Nothing worse than grown men that go to these things and cheer like it's real. I'll watch it on television, but that's about it.

Not even close, BH was one of the best technical wrestlers out there. He got screwed over by Vince (WWF) in more ways than one......writes about it in his book, don't blame him at all. Besides wrestling is nothing more than a man's soap opera (story lines) now, not much about the actual sport anymore.
And the only serious issues he has now is getting over his stroke......doing just fine. Sorry ya can't stand him.....but he's one of the good guys in my books. :)

It may be "fake", but being thrown about, breaking bones, falling off laders, being hit by a chair (that are real), breaking necks - cant be faked.
