A good friend of mine in L.A. was telling me about a song Journey did back in 77' so I got on youtube to check it out. When I watched it, I began to wonder if there was a chance Journey would be doing this song with Arnel on their upcoming album.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSGM_pZwsmY

What's the opinion here? Does it seem like something they would put out on the upcoming album or not in a million years? I think Arnel would do this song quite well. And it's a ballad that I think the rest of the band could play well also.

If Ross remembers the basslines this time...

All joking aside, this is one of my top favorite Journey tunes. Slow and mystic, builds into a fervor with a patented Gregg Rolie organ solo, Neal rips up on it, Perry's singing is bone-chilling here.... one of the most "prog" tunes the band did with Perry....

Shirley DID say "progressive pieces" would be featured on the new album, and WoM is about as "prog" as the band got after Perry came aboard, so yes actually I would expect something like this on Revelation... not exactly the same, but maybe a song with an unusual tempo/time signature and some extended jams with a mystic feel... somehow I think Arnel would knock shit like that out of the park.

OH WAIT.. if you meant the RE-MAKE album.... nah, no chance of this making the re-make album, this was never a big song at all.

I did view a few versions of this same song with the different singers. I can relate more to the Perry version simply because I grew up hearing Perry when listening to anything and everything from Journey. It's a little rough around the edges for me to really relate to a song from Journey with singers other then Perry singing I do admit.

I just got this feeling that we really don't know what's going on with some of the members of Journey and their mind set. I just get this feeling that perhaps in their deep down opinion, this newest album may be one of their last. Perhaps they feel that this is going to be their last great hoora before hanging it up. I could be completely wrong, but there is also a chance that they may be wanting to retire. I hope that I am wrong. But if I'm not, what better way for them to put out an album that pretty much pays tribute to the band Journey by putting out a current release of one of the very earliest, and in many opinions, one of the greatest Journey songs there ever was. I think if this is their mind set, this song will definitely be included in the upcoming album release. It may not be on the CD with all of the greatest hit re-releases, but it very well may be on the CD containing the originals, perhaps the last song will be a little of the vocals and then a lot of instrumental until the end of the song.

It's fun speculating really. Like purchasing a friggin lottery ticket a few days before the draw. You check off the numbers you think are going to come up and then spend the rest of the time before the draw thinking what you'd do if you won. And if I did win, I sure wouldn't be that dill hole who purchased that entire shopping cart of fucking cheese. No, I'd be thumbing through a stack of Playboy's saying "I can afford her, and her and her....etc."

Check out this retarded comment, what a douche bag comment - why the hell is he a Journey fan?, for the first 3 releases? c'mon, hahaha. Just like when Steve Augeri joined Journey, back talkers dissing Perry, how pathetic, words cannot describe...

Winds of March. one of the best Journey songs. evah. 8) evah.

how about Nickel and Dime.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1tYSeyqaJmQ

I remember when they played this in Austin, it was just before dark, i was front row center. Ross was so far into it that he left the stage mentally and I was thinking, "it CANNOT get any better than this". Journey, the Journey I love, live and right in front of me. no vocals. yes, i said that outloud.

but when Jeff did Winds of March last year, yea, it was unbelievable. oh, and Opened the Door too. Pompano Beach.

There seemed to be so much more to the song arrangements and guitar techniques back in the Infinity-Evolution-Departure era. They mixed things up much more, even within a song. Listening to those albums recently on the iPod makes me miss hearing those songs in concert.

Yeah, I prefer the SP verson much better. I was told by my friend in L.A. that there was a singer before SP so I was looking exclusively for that material to check out. Again, I may be bias but I prefer to hear SP's voice when I listen to Journey simply because that was the voice I associate with Journey because of my age group.

If you really look at it though, this song "Winds of March" with SP was in 78'. We are now in 08' and Journey is set to release a new album with new materials along with some remakes. I would say it would be quite fitting to do this song with AP simply because of the 30 year anniversary factor. Plus you know AP can sing this song perfectly, well within his comfort range. If this song is not featured on the upcoming album release in June, I'll be surprised.
