Ever Changing Times

Postby hydraturnback » Tue Apr 01, 2008 6:05 pm

Hi All.

I have ordered my copy of the new Luke album and should be here soon...however...I have just read this review of the album where the guys gives this 2 out of 10....

http://www.komodorock.com/reviews/cd-re ... 801103308/

Now, is it me or does the reviewer give such a low score because he has a pirate copy (or an advanced copy)???

Seems a little unfair?

Just want to confirm that the CD does not have the Italian speaking all over it?? Is that right??

Let me know your thoughts....

No my copy doesn't have italian speaking all over it... I was a little disappointed though, but it needs a few more spins I guess.

Its really good. I would give it 8 out of 10. It's no Falling In Between but it's good. I haven't been playing it back to back like I did Falling but nothing will ever top that one. It's Steve Lukather, he speaks a unique musical language. Love it.

The guy gives it a low score because he's an idiot. You could argue anywhere from 7-10. I have listened to it about 15 times & still listen to it. I think it's an 8 or 9.

This guy is clueless, I'm sure he bags groceries full time and uses his Mom's pc to write reviews.

Guess the guy didn't know anyone that could get him a copy without the annoying voice over...Were other press outlets forwarded the same early version of the CD?

What's wrong with reviewing a CD on or shortly after it's release date?

No, the guy was rightfully pissed, and his rating was directed towards the label, not Luke. I used to do reviews for a website a few years ago and got one or two discs doused in voiceovers, and just couldn't really review them. I understand the label's motives, but it's impossible to form an educated, detailed opinion about a record as musically complex as ECT when there's a voice speaking over it every couple of minutes.

If the labels got their heads out of their asses and entered the 21st century, they'd make the album available (legally) online the day it's done being mastered...no leaks, no pre-release crap, just say "hey, it's done, here you go." Of course, no one needs a label for this either.
