Yogi,
You're a day late for this news flash.

I liked the heck out of that CD. I still give it a listen from time to time.
Anyone who has ever heard Hearts Not The Same , Love & Love Alone & Heaven In Your Heart is listening to JY trying his hardest to get his new group(James Young Group) as Styx sounding as possible. The Styx/DDY sound is there the entire CD.
It is a very good Styx sounding/DDY influenced CD.

He also wrote Little Suzie & It Takes Love for Styx's Greatest Hits Vol ll CD.
Didnt Glen play with Styx?????? Twice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very DDY sounding ballads. Doesnt Hank sing them?? Very DDY sounding.
P.S. He has also played in DDY's solo group. He is sooooooooooooooooo entwined in Styx it's scary!!!
stabbim wrote:I don't hear anything on RBW that sounds especially DDY-influenced. Certainly not the ballads. "Heart's Not The Same" has a little "Suite Madame Blue" in it, but I think that speaks more to influences that the writers have in common.

I'm not aware of TS doing any "bashing" in the first place...unless you count his early DY days, but that's not exactly apples vs apples.
styxfanNH wrote:Tommy has absolutely taken shots at Dennis. The last one was November 2006 though as they came off tour for the first time, so its been awhile. If I remember right it was something about referring to Dennis when he said that the Styx being needed an appendage removed if Styx was going to continue. The appendage was Dennis.

Oh please! You're fucking kidding right? You aren't fucking serious are you?

DDY wasn't always complimentary of the other guys at all times, either. That interview I did with him put ME in the middle of the shitstorm.
Tommy has slowly allowed JY to do the bulk of the interviews, and even paid DDY a compliment a year or so ago in an interview. So I would say that at this point, TS is not "bashing" Dennis.

Allen, Higgy, whoever...
Can someone please just site a few examples and be done with it? Not saying it never happened or anything, but this recollection stuff isn't what T asked for. I'm sure you, Allen, of all people have something archived you can quote, then we can all read, enjoy, and beat it to death.

Love & Love Alone and Heaven in Your Heart were both written by Glen Burtnik.

justy about any of those songs could have appeared on a styx cd.
i didnt know glen wrote those songs.
heaven in your heart ,and hearts not the same are excellent, maybe the current styx line up should record these for thier next live/cover lp.
styxfansite wrote:Has anyone else heard of a rumor tour with INXS and Boston? I was listening to the radio (Steve and DC I think) and they were talking about this tour and how could both groups pull off a successful tour without there lead singers which are both deceased.
Since Styx will be touring with Boston a little, could Styx join Boston and INXS on tour?

The djs were probably joking. I seriously doubt boston & inxs would ever grace the same stage. they have absolutely nothing in common musically, and i can't see them sharing a tour (even with styx.)

"Especially compared to anything JY has released or wrote in the past?"
So, Raised by Wolves should have sounded like it was written in the late 70s or mid-eighties and that would have been more acceptable to you? Or are you really just saying you have no idea what you're actually talking about, so you had to take the closest guess at which of the "glorious three" it reminds you of the most?
Incidentally, do you think it's even possible to play in the same band for nearly twenty years and not come away with some permanent influence? I'm gonna go with...no. I know making Dennis DeYoung the center of the musical universe is a favorite pastime around here, but I gotta say, I'm definitely not the one hitting the pipe on this one.justy about any of those songs could have appeared on a styx cd.
Yes. And we all know that Styx IS Dennis, right?i didnt know glen wrote those songs.
Yeah, I kinda got that vibe.heaven in your heart ,and hearts not the same are excellent, maybe the current styx line up should record these for thier next live/cover lp.
What? And be accused of stealing Dennis DeYoung's great song concepts? Perish the thought!
sniper16 wrote:well it sure isnt just jy.
all i said was its the most styx like record he s released,
just as the new DDY cd is the most styx like or commercial if you prefer thing hes released.
