Some Lou Gramm love!!!

Postby G.I.Jim » Sun Apr 13, 2008 3:10 pm

I know I probably pissed some people off with my "He should throw in the towel" comment, but I assure you I'm saying this with much love for the man. I'll show you a few reasons why Lou's one of my favorite singers of all time...

1. "Lost In The Shadows"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W06fvBwDW54

2. "That Was Yesterday"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNt0RmK5 ... re=related

3. "Urgent"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KSGpwf9S ... re=related

4. "Until The End Of Time"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrYj6gS9 ... re=related

5. "Say You Will"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-CRgWNuI ... re=related

6. "Waiting For A Girl Like You"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hXjJCbA5 ... re=related

Again, I hope nobody's offended. If he can release new music that's decent, I say keep going with it! I just say if it's gone...it's gone. He's a brilliant and extremely talented guy and I'm very gratefull for the songs he's given us. All I'm saying...

BTW...There's a new "Lost Boys 2" movie coming out! Check this out:

i understand he doesnt have the voice anymore.. ive seen it live as well..

im all for PROTOOLS .. it would be great if he put his sound down for us all once again..

btw.. someone mentioned it before , but Down On Love was a great vocal performance.. very much true...

nothing was better than Hot Blooded in the 70's ,, hearing that on A.M. ....

Larry, I can't recall hearing them in the 70's (I was born in '72) but I agree with you on the "Hot Blooded" thing. What a kick-ass song! they have SO many amazing tunes. I'm a huge fan of their "The Very Best And Beyond" cd. The only songs I don't like off of the album are "Soul Doctor" and "Prisoner of love". There aren't too many cd's that I only dislike 2 songs on (and I'm picky as hell!!!). Foreigner kicks ass.

How about showing him some love by spelling his name correctly?

I LOVED Gramm's voice back in the day. I thought he had one of the greatest voices of his time. It's definitely clear he has lost quite a bit off his fastball, to use a sports metaphor.

I completely agree. I saw them numerous times in the day and felt this band and Lou were in the top 5 of that era. When they toured with Journey in 99,I actually only went to see them but was very disappointed with the vocals but found a renewed love for Journey with SA. I bought a recent DVD from the past few years. Bad also but that does not change what once was-- Gramm was fabulous and I say that with complete respect for the man.

He shou1d swa11ow his considerab1e pride and go back to Mick Jones. I thought they were rea11y humming on the 02 25th anniv tour, they were p1aying the tunes to suit Gramm's voice change, the dvd of that tour is great and then POOF, a chi1dish dustup over nothing and we're stuck w/Foreigner version 2.0 or whatever's out there now.

Lou Gramm was brilliant !!

One song that really blows my mind is Jukebox Hero, goddamnit he sings his heart out on that one! Especially that high part at the end!

I like Say You Will very much, too. Primarily because of the catchy tune. But really, none of the songs listed are short of amazing!

Image Lou Gramm had the most bee-yuuuu-tiful, soulful voice. I'd put Foreigner 4 second only to Escape as my all-time favorite albums. Worn out many a copy.

Loved Lou's loaded leads.
Though it's sad to see his voice isn't as strong I'm
happy he's still here.

At this point in his life, I'd rather see him getting healthy than revive Foreigner. His '08 clip above shows improvement.

Side note, I finally saw an entry about Johnny Edwards. From wikipedia:

Today, Johnny Edwards lives in Louisville, raising his two children and repairing and programming computers for a living.

Edwards > Hansen and sometimes sounds like Gramm. Jones should have brought him back when Gramm left again.

I always wondered what a Lou Gramm/Neal Schon collaboration might yield. Man has a harder rock edge, but he sings with heart. His voice certainly has improved this past year, but he's definitely singing the hits a bit lower than the originals.

I don't think he should hang it up. Man has to eat and if people want to see him, so much the better.

About six years ago..Foreigner with Lou Gramm played a concert..it was a very hot summer night..Lou was struggling vocally and from the heat..by the end of the show..he was wipped..
During the bows and goodbye..there was a fan way over on the left side of the stage that got Lou's attention..Lou was more than half a stage away..the fan was front row on the end..Lou walked all the over to that fan..tried to reach out to them..but couldn't quite reach with the small pit between them..Lou turned to Justin..Foreigner's filmer who was right there on that part of the stage..Justin had the big videocamera in one hand and with the other hand..he held on to Lou so he could just reach town and shake hands with that fan..they ended up finding out who that fan was..and it so happened that while holding onto to Lou..Justin took a still shot of the moment..they sent the photo to the fan autographed..

It didn't turn into anything big while it was happening..the fan got lucky..caught his attention somehow..and he dicided to walk all the way over and somehow figure out how to make contact with just that fan..nothing got out of control..it was as if time had stood still for that moment..

Me thinks that those sort of things are what add up to moments that make what life should be all about.. 8)

Holy shit. The entire band is ON here. Those keyboard tones are incredible and the guitar sounds HUGE. Not to mention Gramm's unbelievable delivery. I like Foreigner, but I don't go around looking for live vids on YouTube like this... I've been missing out apparently.
