Sadie,

i dont mean to disturb you, but you are a bit closer to tornado alley then you used to be......
if you havent already, you might want to scope out the safest place in your basement in case it is ever needed...

Here's hoping you never do.......

By the way, we felt the quake 3-400 miles to your north.

Be careful what you wish for, OK ?

So noted. To answer your question...yes...we had 2 earthquakes actually...5.4 and 4.6 respectively. While nothing on the magnitude of those seen on the news...it is not an experience I'd like to repeat.

And yeah...I try to be very careful about what I wish for...cuz heaven knows I have enough on my plate without wishing for something.

I'm telling you...3 major ice storms, 3 recent major floods, and now an earthquake...somehow...I am NOT feeling the love.

Let's just say I am in between the Ohio River and the Mississippi River. Hence the afore mentioned flooding.

It really is a beautiful area...normally.

We are about 2 hours east of the New Madrid fault line.

Oh and for the record...not flat at all down here. Seriously.

And even though they are Rams fans here...I still love Da Bearz

Earthquake, what earthquake?

Postby pinkfloyd1973 » Sat Apr 19, 2008 10:05 am

My boyfriend and I slept through it but it was felt here in Chicagoland and farther north, some people were saying that their animals were acting strangely before it happened....guess they can sense things like that ahead of time. OH and by the way Sadie, I live about 5 or so miles from where a tornado struck back in 1967 (thankfully our apartment building DOES have a basement lol)

I was in the shower when it hit. Got out yelling at the kids wanting to know who was running thru the house at that time of the morning. Looked around and everyone was asleep. They slept right thru the quake and me yelling. Even walked around the house to see if someone tried to break in or something. Didn't know till a couple hours later that it was a quake I felt. Looking back I can say our newest dog was acting very weird before I got in the shower, whining and all, but the other two were sound asleep.

I understand you pain over the tornadoes, Sadie. My work was hit by one about 6 weeks or so ago. But all in all I will take them over a hurricane. Actually I could do without any of them :D . ONLY good thing about a hurricane or maybe snow storm, you get pretty good advance warning, and it is getting better with flooding and storms for some part. But Tornadoes are still very short warning time, and no warning time for quakes.-ERIC

on a serious note, I wish you and your family a safe spring and summer.

My girlfriend is about 30 miles north of St. Louis and it woke her up. She said her cats woke her up first acting weird then about a minute or so later she felt the tremor as the house shook for about a minute or so.

Glad everyone came out fine.

 Yes they do. While there is much in my life I'd like to see improved, I'm sure it is no better or worse than others'. I learned a long time ago...you keep on keeping on.

Thanks for the good wishes. I'll extend the same to you and yours.
