I had heard from those who attended the taping that Ellen had picked AATY and Faithfully for the 2 songs to be performed on her show. I sure hope that hasen't changed, it would be a great promo for Revelation and the band's tour if AATY is on there. Guess we'll find out today. She doesn't air untl 6PM where I am so I'll have a while to wait. :(

My friends who were there were on the 2nd row right down from Ellen's girlfriend. Ellen came down and stood beside her during Faithfully and was heard saying "WOW" while they played.

The show just ended. They played Separate Ways in its entirety and After All These Years was cut short due to the show ending. AATY only played for just over a minute. Faithfully was played as a favor to Ellen during a commercial break. I knew it wasn't going to make the show.

What a let down! Well, let's just hope that minute was enough of AATY to attract some attention.

Was Revelaton mentioned at all, Dan?

Well that was dull.
By the way, Ellen called it "Revelations."

See, I told you that the new cd package wasn't going to be the highlight.

Did she at least mention "The Almighty Walmart" to steer the curious to the bait?

The biggest loser here was Neal. He's the band's top draw and didn't really get to shine at all.
SW was a truncated version, and AATY was cut off before they even hit the chorus.

Listen, I don't want to piss people off about this. I have no intentions of watching the show, but it sounds to me that an opportunity was lost for promotion.

But let's be honest...Ellen doesn't give a shit that they have a new CD coming out. She's interested in the cinderella story of them finding a gem online. And it's a great story for the 21st Century - a classic rock band using modern technology to help keep their legacy going.

The whole performance was lifeless.
Ross made an awkward attempt at humor (does he ever make any other kind?), asking Ellen if she wanted to dance.
She either did not find him amusing, or was too transfixed by the crags and valleys of his withered face to reply.

Separate Ways was very good, but for the most part they did lose a chance to showcase new music. They'll have other chances, but this was definitely a big chance.

I've seen more energetic performances during the auditon round of American Idol.
God help us if the Walmart dvd is anything like this.
I'm so bored of these fucking songs.

Shouldn't be. Vegas was a pretty electric atmosphere. But you can't ever tell what it'll be like after post-prod & tweaking.

Sponsorships/advertising. They are not going to mention Walmart unless they cough up some $$$$. That would be free advertising and the paying sponsors would not like that.

Yeh, that was my guess as well.
Upon a second viewing, Arnel did a more than commendable vocal job.
Still, this performance lacks a certain elusive oomph factor, or what the frog eaters like to call a certain je ne se qua.

I imagine Neal finds gay women completely baffling...

For a major talk show, one shortened song and part of another (new, non-hit) is pretty good airtime. Nobody gets much time; how long did they devote to the first lady and daughter?

4.5 million viewers; it's all good.

They would be playing these songs, even if Perry and Smith were in the band today or for the last 12 years. They would sprinkle in new material, but the catalog would still be the bulk of the setlist. Even if they had 3 or 4 hit records over the last decade, nearly half of the setlist would still be these songs. That's fine is you're tired of the songs, I on rare occassions get tired of them too. But, if you mean you are really bored of them, then you are bored with the band and music, regardless of personnel. So, if Perry does come out and tour, I expect you not to go as you are tired of the songs.
