You fucker my mind muchly Sir.
Haven't you been on the Pineda Port since he came to dock?

Moonster, he is totally right! Pineda's speech is a PR nightmare. It is over before it begins!

Ever heard Jimi Jamison talk on an interview?

Yeah, and Jimi Jamison is such a good reference. Lets take a poll outside this website and see how many people even know who the hell he is...please!

I detect a troll.

Why not keep this a peaceful discussion?

Troll? You are a complete idiot. Just because I might disagree with you doesn't make me a non-peace Keeper.

Seriously, I'm not trying to argue! And I'm moving on after this post.

If you disagree with me that's fine, no problem.

I was just simply asking you why you feel that I'm being naive about Neal and the guitar hero deal. But it's not important anyway.

He is in business to make money. Don't give me the pie in the sky "aw shucks" nonsense about him choosing integrity over money.

Please!

That is all I am trying to say!

Or Ozzy?

Barb....Ozzy was already an established legend when he started dribbling! Arnel is not.

Sure, but was anyone here really expecting Arnel to become a legend? I suspect he is a nervous wreck and that likely has more to do with his stumbling than the inability to speak English. His English needs work, but when he is in his comfort zone, he speaks much better. Put yourself in his shoes... how confident/comfortable would you be?

You are right....100 percent right.

Not entirely.
I think he can sing the hell out of a ballad, but he won't lead this band anywhere. His accent is too distracting, and there isn't so much as a wax paper thin pretext of artistic integrity with his hiring. At least with Augeri we could pretend he was hired on the grounds of his AOR music bonafides. This guy is hired because he does a mean Steve Perry impression - plain and simple.

Ya you think that's all his harness holds for em?
Bull heaps I say.
Augeri did justice and fools me into thinking it's Perry on a few tunes.
Neal made this choice knowing full well the controversy it would cause
and the benefits he would reap from giving a non American a chance.
That's what I gather from all the hoopla.

Cain and mngt. have this band in an effective creative deathroll, and Neal has bellyed up to the bar to drink the jesus juice.

Total and complete bull...plenty of people out there doing Perry impressions. Had many choices..Arnel's one of a kind and holds his own very, very well. Maybe it would have been easier to get one of the very eager and hungry America guys, and believe me they were ready if asked but guess what; Arnel's got class and he just fits. Who cares where he's from. Did any give a dam who was from where say...in Santana. Total mix of everyone from everywhere. Go figure. What a rarity in this biz. Same with the german rockers, ect so fourth. Small minded, small minded indeed.

I think I started it.

Anyway, I don't think anyone hires a singer because he's an eloquent speaker. 8)

No, don't worry about it, you didn't say anything wrong!

I know what your referring to with Jimi's southern accent. He once told me that the longer the amount of time that he plays up north the more the accent fades, and then when he spends time back in the south the accent comes back more.

Lol...I feel great for him, and hope the best for him. Seriously! But for a legendary band, the bar has been raised so high that this is a tremendous leap. Maybe it is a great move, but I still don't see it. I love this band, will buy the cd, see the show, but I ain't feeling the vibe yet. I am trying! :D

Hi N,

We have heard this song and dance from you one too many times for it to mean much of anything. I agree with your surrogate dad, Herbie Herbert, in that Kevin Chalfant was the next succesor to the throne. Arnel is great on the love songs, but that's about it. I think you have settled for the nostalgia corndog circuit with this lazy choice and I think you know it too. Feel free to tell me off and go grab a stiff drink.

NC, I hate to say this, but I think you'll be eating crow real soon! REVELATION is a fantastic album and I think Journey will do very well with it! Will it be 1981 all over again? Probably not, but there are some very strong songs on this CD and I wouldn't be surprised if I heard this NEW stuff getting some decent radio play this summer. Let's put it this way, REVELATION will certainly blow away DEPRIVAL...I mean...ARRIVAL, by a long shot.

I'm jazzed about the new album. While I don't get that "it" factor chemistry Neal had with Perry, I'm liking what I hear on Revelation MUCH more so than anything they did with Augeri. I never got Augeri and always felt those were limbo years for the band. I'm feeling Arnel though. He rocked on the original rockers and was subtle on Like A Sunshower.

I think the right choice was made. Now he just needs to find his comfort level on stage. This experience is very new for him and God damn if I don't choke up every time I hear his personal story. Too often we take what we have for granted. Can you imagine hoping your friends will have some food to share with you? I wish him the best.

This is going to be a great album.

Considering Arnel had zero input on it lyrically or musically, i'm not quite sure how the album itself vindicates his hiring.
It would prolly still sound like a million bucks with Jeremey, Chalfant, or the fat guy from Vegas.

I love Chalfant's singing, and he probably should have been the choice back in the late 90's, although I like Augeri's singing too. I would have loved in many ways if Kevin had gotten the job now too, but maybe the band felt that at the age that Kevin is now that he may have burned out faster on the road than Arnel?

And another BT queer enters the fray.

It was indiscriminating fans like you that allowed this band to get away with serving up substandard product for so many tours.
Ringing the alarm on Augeri's lipsynching was never popular, and neither is what I am saying right now.

I have no idea if that is Neal or not. A certain "former" member on here has said that it's Neal, or at least that he thinks it could be Neal.

The thing that's funny to me is that if you get Neal Schon on here, then why the hell do you want to chase him away?

I'm not directing that at you Story Teller, that's directed at those who choose to pick a fight with someone that they feel is Neal Schon.

Yeah, I'm getting more excited about the NEW music, too. I think AP is amazing on the classics but I favor SP and always will...SP had it all.
I watched the Ellen show today and Arnel did very well...wish they had the entire "AATY" song since I really, really like that one, but I knew they were gonna run credits over something. I'm sure AP will get better with interviews, heck, I tend to be inarticulate when speaking, and I'm a native speaker (which is why I like writing better lol.)

You know what I'm excited about? I'm liking the new music. I'm not as jazzed about Arnel on some of the GH's stuff, but you know what? I've been so over the GH's tour for many years now. Tired of it. Bored with it. I've been waiting for new Journey stuff to excite me and now, finally, it's doing just that.

Arnel fits the new songs more so than he fits the GH's, but for me, that's more important.

Looking forward to Revelation and I hope Neal and Co. keep the creative pedal to the metal on future albums.

LocknLoad:
If you are Neal, no more rehashes! Okay? You know what I'm referring to. You're better than that dude. The rest of the album shows it. No reason to do it.
