I will never be 23 (or even 43) again. I've learned not to quit wishing I was.. well, almost.
"They are 'nothing' without Perry"?
What they are without Perry is A WORKING BAND. With Perry, they do NOTHING. No recording. No touring. No ANYTHING- except solo albums. I'd MUCH rather have Journey working and producing new music than NOTHING from a band that gave us great music for years. Cain and Schon are still great songwriters. I'll give you that with Perry there was magic. But to say they are nothing without him... I call bullshit on that.
I'm not ragging on you personally, SteveForever- sorry. I just will never understand people that can't move on and still live in 1986. It's like those people that keep wishing for a Beatles reunion even though half of them are gone.
HERE'S WHAT JOURNEY SHOULD DO TO SATISFY THESE FANS:
Neal, Ross, Jon, Deen:
Run and get the master tapes for Street Talk, I Stand Alone, and For the Love of Strange Medicine. Re-record the instrumental tracks with Perry's original vocals, release it and call it the "reformed Journey". This way, Perry reforms with Journey and, as is his way for the last 10 years, does nothing.
Now, Steve, get the master tapes from Arrival, Remember Me, and Generations. SLOW THE TRACKS DOWN so that they will fit your current vocal range and re-record the lead vocal tracks, presto, another reformed Journey album.
Dang, they could conceivably keep this up forever...
Everybody's happy- except those fans that'd really like to see the band create new music.
I welcome Arnel, Augeri, and even JSS with open arms as long
as it means the band is creating new music. Granted, they've just re-recorded a bunch of their greatest hits (which I'm not real thrilled about), but if that's the door they had to walk through for WalMart to allow them to do NEW music, I'm all for it.
in 2008 with Perry, they are NOTHING.
