In regards to "Never Walk Away", yes.
Oh, I see.
Because I dared criticize Neal in a different thread on a totally different subject, everything I say positive now is to be greeted with an inquisitve brow, correct? Who appointed you to be the arbiter over who can gains entry into the kingdom?
I meant what I said, then and now.
This isn't BackTalk, where every song is a masterpiece and dissent is forbidden.

Mr. Nilschon  probably has a hard time believing he found a second frontman in 10 years that will kiss his ass! Wow, no wonder he is so stoked. Didn't work out that way with Soto, so Neal had to revert back to someone that would stroke his ego. Looks like it's workin'. :D

On Journey's Captured CD Steve Perry refers to Rolie and Schon as Mr. Gregg Rolie and Mr. Neal Schon.

Hey, I'm a long-time lurker, I just made this account to reply to this post. I haven't been able to listen to the entire show yet so I don't know what Mr. Schon said regarding Guitar Hero, but "Any Way You Want It" is, in fact, available as a downloadable track (master track NOT cover) for Guitar Hero 3. So there seems to be a bit of a disconnect there? Anyways... myself, I have been silently begging for some Journey songs to come out for Rock Band, but so far nothing on that front. However, if they can get one of their songs in GH3, why not some more in Rock Band (or GH4)?

If anybody can paraphrase what Mr. Schon said regarding Guitar Hero, I would be very interested in reading it, thanks.

Schon said he was approached by Guitar Hero for whatever deal Slash ended up getting when Schon turned it down. He thought it was more of an instructional game that actually taught you to play guitar. When he saw it was just a toy, he said he wasn't interested. People ask him if he regrets it cuz the money would have been huge, he said there are more important things than money.

Interesting, thanks. I wonder then how "Any Way You Want It" got into GH3 as a downloadable song AFTER all this occured?

It'll be really disappointing if no more Journey songs come out for these games.

Do you mean, piano/keyboards? That's the major difference I hear on that song.

this was a fun thread to read through.. i was just now able to listen to the show.. pretty good stuff..

the MR poster that got through sorta sounded like a friend of mine.. and asked a question that might not be much of a hard ball..but rather to establish some communication...

ross messing with arny about his accent didnt sound out of line.. it was all very entertaining..

the questions do start out odd.. and from 2 redneck sounding dudes.. then a little kid,, an MR person ,, emma from arnels camp...

i'm sorry, but once again, Journey picked the low hanging fruit.

The same way Jackie Chan gets a lead role in a movie, you pair him up with people who can. You don't watch a Chan or Bruce Lee flick to listen their soliloquy's do you?

Besides, you ain't saying the guy can't sing. Your just saying that he needs to work on his english, since it AIN'T his primary language. I can give you Tagalog lessons for 6 months and you'd still sound like shit, so IMHO that low hanging fruit quip is off-base.

Some of you peeps can't let it go. Haters...you know who you are.

This shit is easy GOLD. 500K will be sold easily enough, then while you're still standing on your little soapbox, the rest of us will be partying up the na, na, nas at a concert venue.

Careful .... You just used the words "Neal" and "Integrity" in the same subject.

Turning down one of America's most popular games... (I love Guitar Hero 3)

Neal is - great guitarist

Neal is not - a genius in the buisness world of marketing and decision making.

Is there a better way to get kids/teenagers/young adults into Journey ?

Comparing chopsocky Jackie Chan flicks (most of which go straight to DVD these days) to an American rock band is about as specious a comparison as one can make. I have tempered my views on Arnel's speaking ability, but that does little to change the fact that the lead singer of Journey needs to be ready from day 1.

I wouldn't take up the cudgels for Arnel Pineda, or any Journey singer if I were you. It is a temporary position only.
If the past 3 years should have taught fans anything, it would be this: be a dedicated fan of the band, but don't get your heart too set on the latest Steve Perry flavor of the week.
For further proof, witness dejected Augeri and Soto fans crying in their beers everywhere.

Whoever said I'm not going to any concerts or purchasing the album?
You talk about this band as if you own it.

Pot meet kettle.

You can think what you think, but if you were at Vegas like I was, you'd see what Journey has become and it ain't this Steve Tribute band that so many love to say it is.

But hey, you can talk tough on the web all you want, it doesn't mean anything in the real world. It's an opinion just like mine.

No shit, Sherlock! My point being that Neal wants a frontman that is a YESman, not one that will have his own ideas about how to steer the band's future and run with it. I think that was why there was all the hidden conflict w/ JSS. He had his own ideas and Frockmaster Cain didn't like it. If anybody is going to control Neal...he wants it to be him. Arnel will know what it's like tryin' not to let the door hit him in the ass, if he gets too many ideas of his own.

I just voice my own opinion.
I don't impishly revel in how many units a cd will move, for an example, when it doesn't put one red nickel into my own pocket.

ttango1 wrote:You can think what you think, but if you were at Vegas like I was, you'd see what Journey has become and it ain't this Steve Tribute band that so many love to say it is.

Journey's own people have now adopted that as a PR vehicle.

"Legacy sound," remember?
Did you even watch CBS this morning?
The segment wasn't couched in the band's history as a Santana-offshoot, or even Neal's virtuoso abilities.
It was strictly about Steve Perry's band getting a new singer who sounds just like Steve Perry.

Just because you are a fiberboard chewing pismire both on and offline doesn't mean we all are.

Pismire?

You couldn't just say ant?

Whatevs...Noble you ain't.

If it infuriates you that there are others that don't see it your way, I don't care. We're just 2 posters with differing opinions. Me, I like the direction the band is going. You...apparently do not.

No, but it does rankle my ass when zealot fans like you resort to such deceitful lengths to make a point - up to going against the words out of the band's own mouth.
Like it or leave it, this incarnation truly is the "Steve Tribute band" and it is designedly that way.
