How green is REO about now? They've still got Cronin and can't get arrested let alone get on TV.

It WAS a very nice piece, obviously made for the general public, who doesn't follow all the drama like we Journey geeks do.

Arnel sounds amazingly like SP when they showed him live singing those hits. Oh, well. They did say they want to honor their legacy. We probably should all be happy for them.

My 16 year old daughter watched this with me (I made her :D) and she goes is that him or the original guy? She was stunned when I told her it was Arnel. He has an amazing ability to mimick almost any singer, yet on the new material he sounds like Arnel.

LOL, it counts if he was the host, I guess. More likely it was a clip of "Can't Fight This Feeling" during the 1984/5 hits promo.

That is very true. In the new material, he doesn't sound like SP at all -- only on the old songs.

When their last album came out, REO also made the morning TV rounds.
Larry Gowan's Styx was even on TV last year.
Not a big deal.

If you weren't the tiniest wee bit offended by the way Augeri and the past 8 years were slighted, you are likely another Fillipino carpetbagger or a NOMOTA pawn.

According to the description on this show on my DTV guide: "A Filipino man's journey from homelessness to stardom". The focus was on Arnel, not Journey's past or who did what to whom.

Television shows are not pre-dictated by their supermarket TV guide descriptions. Those come later.

Removing the blame-game scuttlebutt of "who left who first," this segment did the band no favors.
It might as well be 2001, and VH1 BTM all over again.
The band was depicted as leaving Perry in the lurch (again) and they are still defined solely by Perry's vocal contributions (again) - when their history is much deeper than that.
Arnel made a much better first impression than the wall-eyed SA, I'll give it that.

My point was that CBS did this story because of Arnel and that was their focus. Going into the band's history of singers seems irrelevant.

Did anyone notice that when Arnel was talking about his mother's death that it looked like Ross was sleeping? WTF?! :? Go check it out. They show all five guys 3 times during that story and Ross has his eyes closed all 3 times. :?:

He was probably resting after speaking more in this interview than he has the past ten years. Seriously, I've never heard Ross say so much.

You got all that from a TV Guide description, eh?
Those descriptions are written to the piece, not the other way around.
Behind the scenes in the CBS editing room, I'm sure there were a million different ways to frame it.
Of course the new singer was always going to factor heavily, but that doesn't necessitate disregarding the past eight years of trying to inch out of Perry's long shadow.
Way to hit the re-set button!

I've been a diehard Journey fan since 1981. I own every fucking thing they put out, including every side project. I've literally spent thousands of dollars over the years on Journey or Journey related things.

Sorry, but the ONLY reason this was on TV was to tell Arnel's story. It had nothing to do with Journey's new CD or the history of the band or anything else. The only story here is Arnel's discovery and his rags to riches tale. Any glossing over of Perry's departure, Augeri's time with the band, or JSS had to do with the 9 minute running time and the focus of the story being Arnel being plucked from obscurity to front a legendary rock band.
