What wisdom
does this man possess?
To cast down his god
for the wrongs of one man

What now will he inflict
upon his country
this man whom if elected
will hold our fates in his hand

I'm willing to bet most mainline Americans share the thoughts of Mike Huckabee, in that Obama's private faith, as with anyone elses', is really none of our business.

I totally agree, it isn't and shouldn't be. How he's handled the fallout bothers me. "Ok, they don't like my association with that church, so I'll quit it to appease them." That's nothing but a liar.

I thought along the same lines when they started playing the clips of this Pflager character. Why does this church still have its tax-exempt status? I can't remember EVER hearing anything even remotely that political in any church I've attended. I'd walk out if my minister ever said anything like that.

He must have still felt that he was OK after the Wright issue, but as soon as the new guest pastor starts to talk and it gets back in the headlines, he FINALLY realizes that he is doomed if he doesn't leave the church.

You should run for president! I'd vote for your before Obama, based on that statement alone. Any man that sits and listens to the garbage he has for 20 years, just to later say "I never heard any of those types of statements" is a fucking idiot and a liar. How convenient that he NOW chooses to leave the church........What a piece of shit!

That's your own interpretation of it.
Obama never said that's his reason for leaving.
In fact, he said he "is not denouncing the church" and that "the church have been suffering from the attention my campaign has focused on them."
Considering the various reports of congregants getting harassed by the media outside (some recieving calls at their homes) I can't blame him.

We had sexual McCarthyism over Clinton's plonker in the 90's. Now we have spiritual McCarthyism.

TNC would you be this understanding if Obama were a conservative republican leaving a controversial church that was preaching things you found reprehensible (ie conservative ideology)? I have a feeling you wouldn't be. Just sayin'.

I don't care about the candidates' religions - period.
I think the flack Pastor Hagee is getting concerning his thoughts on Hitler is especially undeserved.
If that's his theological reading then so be it.

Yep! That's for shit sure. This whole "Im a christian" shit that came out of Obama is rather disturbing anyway. Maybe perhaps, now that he's quit the racist's church, he can go back to the mosque and quit the fucking charade.

Agreed to a degree, but isn't this just another example of him caving to the masses? Kinda like the "Flag lapel pin" issue? I guess he was sorta damned if you do/ damned if you don't, but still...

Obama has worn a flag pin before. If and when he chooses to put it back on is his own sartorial perogative. I'd like to think this country is smarter than requiring the presence of nationalist trinkets and doohickeys as the litmus test to be president.
Maybe you would all feel better if he rolled up his sleeves up adopted a fake Texan accent like the current disgrace.

Roger Sloane is the man who broke the Elliott Spitzer prostitution scandal.

If this tape does indeed exist Barry is finished. It would also prove the effect of this church on his wifes thought process.

That woman has a bad attitude period. This doesn't surprise me at all.

Not sure if this is the clip in reference but there is "a" clip here that is somewhat controversial.

Lord,no! Don't get me wrong! No Neocon here... I personally think he should've told the "lapel pin" naysayers to fuck off! I'm just dissapointed that he seems to cave to stuff like this. I mean, isn't his whole spiel based on "change" from the norm? I just think things like this and backing away from the church show a man that might have trouble sticking to his guns in DC.

I would also warn against lumping all those who naysay against Obama as BUSH supporters. Ther IS still another candidate in the race (officially, anyway)

That's not the one, this one is supposed to be Michelle preaching in the church about "whitey." If true, Barry is toast. Some blogs are saying it may come out tomorrow. I'll believe it when I see it.

Interesting- I've been wondering if Hil wasn't still in the race because of a "smoking gun"...this could be it.

That doesn't piss you off? So it's ok that blacks can call us whitey but the reverse doesn't apply?

Sorry, I disagree. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. Frankly, if someone black is going to initiate racial discussion with derogatory slogans against whites, then why is it not ok for the reverse? Why is her inapropriate use of the word whitey not held to the same scrutiny of someone elses use of 'blackie', 'porch monkey', 'moon cricket' or 'nigger'?

Didn't see that one.

Let me be clear though. If it's true that Michelle Obama said that, it would affect my vote. I wouldn't want a first lady that is a hate monger. I'm not going to get mad about it and call her a name in return because that's being just as bad. You can call me a cracker all day long, doesn't mean I am one.
