Steve Perry PO'ed at fan after Neal's hit w/a beer bottle!

Postby Rip Rokken » Mon Jun 02, 2008 7:40 am

I'm having a blast on YouTube for a few minutes, digging up stuff I've never seen before. I don't know if this was a part of a DVD or where it came from, but Steve gets P.O.'ed at a fan who hits him with a beer bottle, and threatens him! LOL!!! Very reminiscent of Diamond Dave or Axl Rose when they also were pelted... haha! I'd pay real money to see Steve Perry whip somebody's ass -- that would RULE!!!

No he didn't, he clearly says "hit Neal in the head".

The clip cuts off but later they showed Neal still playing with blood running down his face.

Here's an audio clip of Wheel in the Sky in '86 when Perry gets hit with something. It's around the 3:20 mark I think. He gets fired up here too.

On one of the ROR videos, I can't remember which one right now, someone throws a bottle (I think) at Neal. He and SP laugh it off and just keep on playing.

Ok, you are right -- the first few times I watched it, sounded to me like he said, "hit me on the head"... I stand corrected!

LOL! He's even more ticked off there, calling the guy a "c**sucker"! Wonder how it played out? Seemed to cut off before the confrontation was over...

It's the worst... I was ringside at a non-televised WWF event here years ago when people started tossing a few things onstage. Shawn Michaels came out and said that if one more person threw anything, they were gone. Right as the main event was about to start, someone tossed a paper cup full of beer and hit him with it, and they bolted... show over! When an announcer came out a few minutes later and said the wrestlers would not return, there was a mini riot! People started chunking tons of stuff at or into the ring, and a chair went flying right over my head. One guy even lit something on fire and tossed it in -- we bolted! You get that many idiots in one place, it's only a matter of time before someone does something stupid (that's a Judge Dredd saying, for any fans who recognize it).

Anyway, the WWF later put out a history book of their performances, and that date was in there as well with a mention of the riot, but I specifically remember the facts were a bit skewed.... I'll have to dig that up sometime.

My thoughts? Anyone who would risk the enjoyment of the entire venue by pulling crap like tossing something harmful onstage deserved to have their ass kicked by the crowd. Even better if Axl Rose jumps in and does it himself... LOL!

Sorry Rip, that was me that threw the papr cup in the ring...it wasn't filled with beer, it was apple juice....but I have good explaination....

Shawn Michaels is FREAKIN' HOT, there's a reason they call him the Hearbreak Kid. I was actually just hoping that he would physically remove me from the venue himself.....no such luck but hey...I girl's gotta try!!!!

There used to be a guy at Kroger that told me I looked like Shawn Michaels every time I saw him (I'm sure it's the ponytail only, really). Hadn't heard that in a while, but just last week, someone at Drug Emporium said the same thing! I used to be a huge HBK fan, and always enjoyed the compliment.

People used to say I was a ringer for "Skippy" on Family Ties. Not nearly as good of a compliment.
But around town, it was well known...when they got home at night

Yeah, they went right into "No More Lies", and right before the solo, Neal yells "No More Bottles!", smiles and fucking shreds.

Perry was a bitcher back then, too. :P Nothing can get Neal off of the stage. Unfortunately, there are always a few assholes in the crowd. Without starting a war here, I would guess that had Perry been hit they would have carted him off on a stretcher with a neck brace on. Neal? No fucking way. Beer bottles feel like mosquito bites to him while he's onstage.

Soooo.... if because of that, he then required surgery,
uhm, would Perry have had it done right away?

It was pretty cool when perry was all PO'd, had Neal's (who seemed to be taking it in stride) back
and goes "Yea you're having a good time, whyncha come down here whoever the fuck threw that bottle and we'll SHOW you a good time!!!" :x

he was legitmately hot over that. 8)

I was there....

Postby Lerxst101 » Tue Jun 03, 2008 1:35 am

It was my first concert (Meadowlands in NJ) with great seats on the floor -- usually nosebleeds or lawn seats for this high schooler (at the time). Only a few songs in, the lights go on and Perry starts yelling and challenging the guy to come down. I was so bummed, thinking "what an a$$ -- throws a bottle, concert's going to be canceled, just my luck." Instead, Neal goes backstage, cleans up a bit, comes back on and sings "No More Lies" with the blood running down. It was simply amazing.
