OT - Rick Springfield

Postby weatherman90 » Mon Jun 02, 2008 1:48 pm

It looks like Rick Springfield is at it again with a new album called "Venus in Overdrive". This guy is showing no signs of slowing down, it's amazing.

Plus he doesn't look a day over 40, at least not in the promo shots on his website. Did Rick Springfield discover the fountain of youth, or is he a robot?

I think he's a BoBot! Saw him in an interview on TV not long ago, and his face barely moved from all the Botox! He looked good, though -- just most of his face didn't move when he talked...

I started a short lived thread about Ricks first band , The Zoot. He looks like he has the the Peter Pan syndrome, he just never grows old.

Here he is on guitar in 1971

The guy absolutely still kills it.

He was here in San Diego last year and had the crowd remembering the past.

We basically Celebrated Youth that night and it was awesome.

Springfield...you still da man. 8)

Despite Rick Springfields hits galore, one tune seems to never leave my mind. Tiger by the Tail. I suppose its more of a filler but possibly I'm the only one here, that digs that tune.

Rock of life is also to me a killer track. :)

Some of Rick's best ever material are those tracks hidden between the hits. Tiger By The Tail is great song...and from Tao Walk Like A Man is also classic.

Motel Eyes is another all time fav.

Rock Of Life is amazing...never forget the first time I heard that song and the style just threw me....it was like. wow...what a transition.

There's another track like that I 've heard from the new album - Rock Of Life meets Jesus Saves.

pretty disappointing that "who killed rock n roll" isnt on this new release. I would have liked to hear a studio version of it.

I've been told it will be a limited edition bonu strack for one specific retailer.

But personally I'm glad the tune isn't on there...thought it was a little weak in the chorus and I believe the quality of the songs included will quickly prove this the right decision.

Great! Then that's two for Tiger by the Tail 8)

Hmm. I've not had the chance to hear WLAM, gonna check it out!

Rock of Life had a quasi Def Lep feel to it, I would like to add.

I just got that recently, soon followed by "Karma"... Rick DOES rule... as much a showman as an entertainer! Really looking forward to the new disc.

When I was in like 3rd or 4th grade, I had the biggest crush on Rick Springfield!

I didn't know any of his music back then but just had a crush on him. I just KNEW that I'd grow up to marry him and bear his children.

Yeah....that didn't really work out the way I had it planned back then.

Same here. I don't have that one and it's a killer song. I hope the new stuff is rock. It looks like it's just him and his bass player.

"It's Always Something" is also great track as is "Tear it all Down"

They both have a kinda reggae vibe - but not in a horrible way - good songs - still think Souls and Livin In Oz take some beating tho (by anyone)

I read Andrew's news on RS and I have to say I'm surprised - had no idea he was so popular with his music & had so many albums. Granted I never heard any of his songs, except Jessie's Girl - I used to watch General Hospital eons ago and he was on it then...may have to tune in again.

For my money, MY FATHERS CHAIR is the best he's ever done. That song came out the year I lost my old man, and it was great therapy for me.
