Rip Rokken wrote:Just got mine -- went up shortly after midnight and they weren't on display yet. A very nice lady who worked there went back and dug thru boxes to get mine, so I took 2 of them! Popped them in the car as soon as I left the store. Here is a picture, and if you look closely, the CD peeking out at the bottom is not from this set -- I pulled it from my changer to make room for Disc 2.
My verdict is still out on the production... It's pretty good on Disc 1 in my car, but sounds a little muddy on some songs. Same happened to me with the new Whitesnake CD, though, and only seems to be certain discs. Most sound killer there! Disc 2 (re-recorded hits) sounds pretty good as well, but the production is just a little lacking there.... not quite the quality of the originals, but they still did an admirable job. Anyway... about to pop in the DVD and watch it while I work out.

What's the cd peeking out?

STORY_TELLER wrote:IIt's likely that not enough stock was made to cover all the stores across country. This sounds like they're behind in producing the product more so that it being a "top seller". That's a common sales tactic to create demand. Tout that it sold out and it gets potential buyers to get rabid about getting a copy asap. Publishers do this all the time.

By the way, a quick glance at the credits reveals that both discs were recorded at The Plant, and Kevin Shirley mixed the whole thing. That's what it claims, anyway. It will be interesting to hear what others think of the production.

Store #1 wasn't ready at all. According to the late night girl, the girl with the key wouldn't be at the store till 5.
Off in my car, I bailed and drove 9 minutes to the other 24 hour Wal-Mart. My wife and I ambled through the store to the back to the record store and walked straight to the J section where I see...nothing but a card that says Journey's Revelation will be sold exclusively starting June 3rd. Picked up that card and walked to the first important looking employee. He said he'd go look and after 15 mins...score.
I then took my purchase up to the front, and the girl asked, "Why are you getting this?"
I replied, "For Arnel, and to support the music I love. Plus, I was there at the concert where the DVD was filmed."
She then said,"When was that, this week?"
I said, "No it was early March."
She then told her co-worker that this is the band that has that new lead singer one of their friends keep talking about.
She adds, "They say that this new guy is really talented."
I picked up my copies and told her back,"Pick up a copy, you'll like it."
And then I listened in full stereo sound on the way back as loud as my Sony CD Player could handle it. The smile is large indeed.

Kev did mix it all...did all the work on Disc One and co-produced Disc Two - where JC had done most of the basic track recording. That's why there is a slight diffeerence in audio quality.
