Kudos to Journey - Thoughts on Revelation

Postby Brigadier » Thu Jun 05, 2008 5:34 am

Gotta hand it too Journey. And I feel a little sorry for them. After 35 years as a band, they release a very, very good album. Probably the most anticipated rock album in a loooooong time. And all people do is find fault with it.

Quicherbichen people.

This is probably the best rock album put out by anyone in years. It sure is a heck of a lot better than any other new crap on the radio. It is better than Rush's latest. Survivor's latest, etc..... and has the best shot of any of them at getting airplay. Asia's newest was released quite unoticed.

Is it perfect? No. Will some people ever like Journey without SP  ? No. Personally, I'd like to see Journey return to pre-Escape form - without Cain, with Rolie and the duets, but that's just me.

Take Revelation for what it is - a GREAT rock and roll CD in a time of musical wasteland.

Carry on.

I think fans around here have reacted uniformly positive to the new songs.
Not sure what you're seeing.

Right, no one wants to see this forum turn into another BT.
Music is subjective, but saying this album is the best in years is going overboard.
IMO, Revelation is as good (not better) as Arrival. It will probably sell more units, though.

I wish people would quit telling me what I can and cannot say about something that I spend my money on. Like TNC says..for the most part most of the criticism has been constructive and positive. I also wish people would at some point realize that just because something is anticipated or a long time coming, that we are permitted to have a certain expectation of quality from this band. At one point they were the best rock and role band in the country..if not the world. Your damn right I expect to have a quality product from them. The reviews and opinions on this board about the band and CD's is subjective. When it stops being that way...then you should worry.

In both above cases, the main gripes center around the shitty new "Greatest Hits" - and rightfully so, they suck.
I said the fans are loving the new stuff.

And at least one is enjoying the re-recorded material, me. I appreciate the music regardless of the singer.

Wal Mart mandated that the Greatest Hits be re-recorded as a promotional tool to play while Revelation is on sale. It seems to be working quite well. Neal is on record as saying he didn't really want to re-record the GH, but pretty much couldn't turn down the offer. The CD was basically free. If you don't like it throw the fucking thing away. End of discussion.

So, according to you, everything coming out of Neal's mouth is the "truth" and from SP, it's "questionable or lies."

Good gawd...every damn thread ends up in the same territory...

And as for "picking it apart", that's what fans do... :D

I think the re-records are enjoyable too...and I didn't think I would like them.
The new material on the other hand is fantastic.
