Help a brother out will ya

Postby Squidward24 » Fri Apr 04, 2008 7:38 am

I've been TRYING for awhile to figure out what year(s) the following videos were recorded:

Somewhere Tonight / No Women No Cry:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_ar3904wgE

Hold The Line

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTz3jlqN8Hw

I was also looking for the following videos, but can't find them, I do remember these bits:

Hold The Line - Lead vocals by John James and Jenny Douglas-McRae. John is wearing a white shirt, Jenny has a black shirt with some funky white writting. The version was something like 10 minutes long.

Rosanna - features both John and Jenny. Same outfits as the ones mentioned above.

I'm sorry I can't provide anymore help, or the actual videos I looked on YouTube but could not find the ones I was looking for.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Ed.

The first one is Johannesburg, from 97. Baba Mnumzane and Africa were lifted from this show and put on the Toto XX Release.

The second one is a TV broadcast of the Countdown Cafe show, Den Bosch Holland '93. The complete recording was a popular boot at the time called 'Papa Was a Sexy Dancer'. Full show is on CD, the TV broadcast was only an hour. Check out 'Stop Loving You', from this show. Great performance.

That just doesn't sound the same with a womans interpretation of those songs.

Yea - they relied fairly heavily on the backup singers to cover the Joseph and Bobby parts between 92 and 97. Sometimes it worked, sometimes, I guess some didn't dig it too much. For what it's worth, I thought some of their best live shows were during the KOD and Tambu shows. In particular is a show from Sweden around '96. THAT should be released as a live album (Luke singin 'Million Miles Away', and a funky version of 'Georgy Peorgy')
