Did they really have 4 consecutive triple platinum albums?

According to RIAA database, the common theme about Styx having 4 consecutive triple platinum albums is in error.

Grand Illusion 3x
Pieces of Eight 3x
Cornerstone 2x
Paradise Theatre 3x
Kilroy 1x

So what is the true story? I know that Styx have quoted 4 triple platinum for years. Is RIAA just not updated?

Yeppes.. RIAA is not updated because well, its up to cash being given to the RIAA to "update".

Cornerstone did sell 3 million records, PT and GI have sold nearly 5 each. Po8 may even be near 4 million too. Not sure about Kilroy, but I'm sure its nearing 3x Platinum.

RTP should be nearing platinum as well.

I think the only ones that really haven't changed are Styx 2 and EOTC, both still around gold.

But I'm sure Eq and CB are platinum plus now too.

EOTC finally went gold in like 98.. Dennis has told this story, the band just had a top 3 hit with Show Me The Way, A top 25 hit with Love At First Site, and had sold nearly 475 000 (or was it 425000?) records and the label just said.. Sorry, we're not promoting you anymore.

Then with soundscan and the RIAA, it took nearly 7 years for that many copies to be sold and presto, Glen B gets a gold album for his wall!

Actually according to the RIAA, Styx recieved three gold album awards in less then two months: EOTC, RTP and GH.

I would put EOTC right now at maybe the 520, 000 copy mark.. at the most.

As for Equinox, I'm pretty sure thats sold platinum plus.. and not just in Canada! lol
