OT - Cheesiest songs of the 70s

Ok, he got most of them right. I would disagree with England Dan and John Ford Coley's I'd really love to see you tonight and maybe Sweet City Woman.
I would add a few others: Heartbeat it's a lovebeat (Defranco's), Loving you (Minni Ripperton), On the Disco round (who cares), Playground in my mind (from that guy who was on the Arsenio Hall show), Torn between two lovers (?), Convoy (CW McCall), Feelings (Morris Albert) and that god awful Run Joey Run song about the father shooting his daughter at the end....accidently.

Awwww. I like "Sweet City Woman". And, of course, one of my schlocky faves "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" mainly because of that sexy Diamond/Streisand duet on the Grammy awards that year.

The others. Yeah, mostly cheesy.

Just saw him in concert last week. 74 years old and can still hit those notes. Maybe not as powerful, but in tune. Amazing.

Nope. The cheesiest song is already on the list. "You Light Up My Life." I hate to even type the title for fear of getting it in my head after trying to purge it from any memory banks after all these years. ACK!

Yeah but you could also add....Feelings by Morris Albert...some 33 years after it's release...I still cringe when I hear it.

How could Kung Fu Fighting & Monster Mash NOT be on that list?

Even though it was from the 90s, honorable mention goes to Don't worry be happy (Yuk)

Not sure what the writer of said song received for that, but he should have gotten life.

I do think there is a difference between songs that take themselves seriously as songs (and are gratingly cheesy --- no pun intended. :D ) and those that are obviously novelty songs. The guy who created that list seems to have made that distinction. Thus we don't see "Disco Duck" or "Kung Fu Fighting" on that list.

My take, at least. Certainly does not take away from the cheese factor of those novelty songs, fer sure.

I think I played that 45 until it wore out, luckily it was also on one of my K-tel records.
