I don't feel Gowen should be fired, he is doing what he is asked to do just as we do at our jobs. Either way I hope Styx will continue to continue. I would just like to see a few shows done with the classic line up.
Well, Chicago, I find I am agreeing with you!I think Gowan has earned his place for the many years and long hours he has put in as a member of the group. Ditto Ricky. I am no fan of anything Gowan, but he certainly should not be unceremoniously dumped, in my view.
I am in the camp that does not want a reunion at all. I like Dennis solo and am happy with the direction his career has taken him. I think it will suit him for the years to come. His songwriting skills have not diminished at all and, as long as his voice stays healthy, he has the road clear for many years to come.

I disagree the guy has made a fool of himself as well as the name Styx
Was he hired to sing like a chipmunk?
I don't think so
They dumped Dennis unceremoniously so they should kick Gowan in the street.
He is an enabler plain and simple..I am in the camp that does not want a reunion at all. I like Dennis solo and am happy with the direction his career has taken him. I disagree again
Both sides are putting on B type shows and its really getting boring all the way around
New life needs to be instilled and that comes with a reunion.
Glen is part of that as well.
Gowan can clean the toilets after the burritos are served.
Well we all know you are the bastion of what is acceptable.
They dumped Dennis unceremoniously so they should kick Gowan in the street.

Gowan had nothing to do with that,
No but what he has to do with is the nothing that he brings to the table.
No matter which way he goes kicked in the street or a fake broken leg ,
the guy has worn out his welcome.
How long can his circus act go on?
A reunion at this stage, after this long, with Styx taking the track they have for the last many, many years, would be pointless and would probably garner little or no interest aside from a few die-hards.
I agree
Styx would have to sleep for a few years to unburn out the name.
Then a new full band cd and tour

This has gone on long enough. And I think the ticket spike with Dennis would be quite nice. Right now, they're running on fumes and have the attendance to prove it when they play alone.

No offense, as I much prefer Dennis...but there truly would be no ticket spike with his return. Far too many reasons to list, but please...that ship sailed a long time ago.

He was on 2 albums that did nothing. At least Swafford had a solo song that charted sung about her.Monker wrote:Saint John wrote:Gowan...lol. That dude is about as relevant to Styx as Sherrie Swafford was to Journey.
You really have no idea what you are talking about.

You really have no idea what you are talking about.Swafford was actually more relevant (not to mention better looking). I think that's what you meant.

[/quote]And if DDY comes back, I wouldn't be surprised to see it be more like his touring band with a keyboard plater and DDY just singing or playing minimal keys (if at all). If that's the case, I see no need to let go of Gowan unless they hire DDY's solo guy. I think DDY's days of playing keyboards full time are long gone.
Exactly. They're not going to pay the guy as an equal partner just to play keys. Besides, it would be completely awkward for him to be there.froy wrote:When Dennis comes Gowan goes .

Even if some sort of reunion happens - which I highly doubt - there will be no large ticket spike. Maybe, just maybe they could do 5000 seaters, but that's about it. Both DDY and Styx are playing similar sized venues on their own.

Yea, they could maybe play 5000 seaters for the dozen shows that Denny would agree to do.
More like 45 -50 showsThese 2 groups have gone in very different directions.
Yea Styx is playing the same show for 10 years in a row and Dennis has a great cd coming.
I don't think there is enough interest in the bands or the fans to make any kind of reunion possible.
Thank Shaw and JY for killing this chance
Just to many wasted shows over and over and over and over againI wouldn't go out of my way.
