Roger Hodgson joining Dennis DeYoungs Band?

Postby froy » Wed Jan 21, 2009 2:00 pm

Could this be true?
Could Roger join in for say Boat on The River, Fooling Yourself Suite Mademoiselle and a few other gems?
Could Dennis maybe do Rudy School and others?
They always wanted to be the opening act so neither toured together
Now they can both open in the same band.

SuperStyx is the name of this one.

Look out Im on it..

Roger Whitaker, that was funny.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

"Roger Whitaker, that was funny."

Hey according to his commercial a few years ago, he outsold the Beatles worldwide. Or was that Boxcar Willy???

I think it was actually "Slim Whitman" but the commerical was an edit:

"Slim sold more records than Elvis or the Beatles TO HIS OWN FAMILY". The end got cut off during the final editing stage of the commercial.

Froy keep dreaming.. Why would Roger Hodgson LOWER himself to be 2nd to Dennis in his band?

Roger can very comfortably tour in North America and play 1500-5000 venues on his name alone. Bigger venues in Europe and Asia. That just shows just how big Supertramp really was around the world.

He doesn't need to tour with Dennis or "join a band" to be successful. Hell when I saw him in 98 it was his "Solotramp" tour.. just him his organ and a guitar. One of the most amazing shows I've ever seen.

Second, how come you weren't saying this when both played together during Canadian Idol? They spent well over a week together getting ready for that show.

I still say the best thing those two should have done to promote themselves was to both hit the road together (with their own bands) for a full Canadian tour as a result of their appearence on Canadian Idol. They could have easily sold out 5000 venues across the GWN.

That could have brought in a bigger fan base for both and quite possibly could have pushed Dennis's 100 Years from now past Gold or even platinum here. Instead of the 20 or 30 thousand copies it sold to date.

First of all nobody is lowering anything
Second of all Roger played with Ringo remember.

Roger can very comfortably tour in North America and play 1500-5000 venues on his name alone.

Really when was the last time he played in North america?
Taste of summer to 600 people?
He has not toured in the US for some 10 years
No name recognition.
And he only drew 1000 average back then,

Bigger venues in Europe and Asia. That just shows just how big Supertramp really was around the world.

I know ST was huge but he can't use the name
He draws the most in Canada

He doesn't need to tour with Dennis or "join a band" to be successful.

Who said he did?
It would be a 1 off set of shows

Hell when I saw him in 98 it was his "Solotramp" tour.. just him his organ and a guitar. One of the most amazing shows I've ever seen.

I saw it
It was good
Not amazing but real good
He needs a band not solo sound
Its to weak.
Plus he could sing some rare Styx songs with Dennis
Boat , Madmoiselle Fooling Yourself , Dennis could do some tramp songs with him
School Rudy Crazy ect
It would be a killer experience.

Second, how come you weren't saying this when both played together during Canadian Idol? They spent well over a week together getting ready for that show.

The reason they played on IDOL was because of Me and Suitemadame Blue you goof
We gave them the idea.
Lori and I met Roger and wanted a double bill show with Dennis and Roger
Both wanted to close the show so it never happened but we introduced them to each other.
Now its time to revisit this idea.

I still say the best thing those two should have done to promote themselves was to both hit the road together (with their own bands) for a full Canadian tour as a result of their appearence on Canadian Idol. They could have easily sold out 5000 venues across the GWN.

YEP you are right
BUT the issue of who closes the show is there
Roger can't close a show with as a solo act
It would be WRONG
He needs a band to close the show
He won't do it
I have told them a thousand times they won't listen
