It was played by Styx in 1978 at the Forum in Los Angeles, I was there and I think the Cars opened for them but not 100% sure on that part

I had snuck a small cassette recorder into the Minnesota State Fair that night. I just found the tape. It is of very POOR quality and I even had to slice it back together twice. The third verse Tommy sang that night sounded something like:

Singing in the local bowling alley sucks
I dont need a Crystal Ball to tell me so
Every night I dream of some song titled First Time
I wake up shaking/mind is breakin nightly now
