Where did the new DDY cd come in at on the Billboard album chart this week? The last Styx CD Big Bang Theory only made it to # 46.

I will really be surprised if it debuted in the Top 100 honestly.

Big Bang was also an album of other people's music.

I know, right? I didn't hear anyone complaining when "Ten on Broadway" came out - just a lot of ass-kissing "oh, he sounds so great," blah blah. (which he did, but so not the point)

He did sound good, but that album was a really bad idea IMO.

I actually really liked Big Bang - especially Tommy's covers.

The point I was making was the comparison of a cover album to an album of new material. Nothing more honestly.

I liked 10 on Broadway too. Dennis sounded great on it, and the songs and his voice were a natural fit. I also liked BBT, wasn't a really bad song on it either. But DDY new cd needs to be compared in sales to Styx last new cd Cyco.

Well I hate to break the bad news but I can’t seem to find the new DDY cd on the billboard top 200 album chart. Several other CDs that came out on the 14th are now on the chart but 100 years from now is nowhere to be found on the chart. I’m in total shock!! Maybe he’ll have better luck with his next CD.

I would expect the album to climb up the charts real soon. If Froy says it's the greatest thing out there, then it has to be true. I will cry if it does not make the Top 100.

We need here is a grass roots effort here to get some air play. This album deserves it. I'm emailing a couple stations in my area. Anybody have a good link to send in my emails that has samples?

Could also use some help with the wording of the email.

I tried it with the Canadian version.. called to see if the classic rock station would at least give Rubicon a spin, and the Adult Contemporary stations a chance on "Save Me".

Both said that Universal NEVER SENT THEM A CD.

So that just goes to show just how much promotion DDY got outside of Quebec here in Canada.

How can an album that is barely available in any stores crack the top 200; not to mention 100..? I realize we're in a different age where things are ordered online and downloaded, but come on.. I don't think it's really fair to compare these sales to "Cyclorama", which was available everywhere.

Hey idiot.

BBT theory was in the top 200 for exactly one week. Why? Because for some reason the Today show had nothing else better to do and put Styx on to plug that album for a Friday concert series one Friday. (Evidently the puppeteer got sick or something). Anyway, the next week...GONE! If you look up BBT's total sales, I believe it is less than 30,000 copies sold period.

Just shows you what one blast of publicity on a major show can do for 1 week for an album. I have the feeling that Rounder's strategy is not about getting a one time hit. It is more about a slow burn (to use a phrase from RTP). In other words a more steady stream of promotion vs. one big hit. That was their strategy with Robert Plant and Allison Krauss too.

But I love how you show glee in the fact that it wasn't in the top 200. Shows what an a$$hole you are. But that being said, it would help Styx if 100 years does do well. Puts more light and attention on the band as a whole. But I guess your too dense to realize that.

I know DDY was excited about the Rounder deal because of the distribution network. But if the distribution network isn't able to get the album into stores, then at the end of the day, what is the benefit of Rounder? Couldn't Dennis have released the album of Grand Illusion music, sold about the same number of copies via amazon and his website and gotten paid 50% of retail vs. 10%?

So now you're comparing Robert Plant to Dennis Deyoung?? Please.. Anything that Robert Plant touches goes gold or platinum because of Led Zeppelin.. regardless of the record label.

You then put him with another artist who also goes gold or platinum with every release, cross market it so it can be played by country AND top 40 and you're laughing.

Rounder's going to promoter DDY's newest album about the same amount as Chicago's last studio album.. and we all know how many millions of records Chicago XXX sold..

1. You don't have a clue about what you are talking about.
2. Rounder's strategy is to sell what it can to those diehards who would pay for a jar of Dennis' toe jam.
3. If current Styx does well, it would put more light and attention on Dennis. I guess you are too dense to realize that.
4. Get a clue.
