It's all good. Had to take care of the girlie tonight so I'm back. What to say. If you won't have luck against a team like Detroit, then you might as well pack it in. The Pens are playing with solid effort, and are getting nice scoring chances on Osgood. The post got the best of us twice, and the luck of the draw isn't favoring us when we need it the most. I mean come on, The Pens outshot the Wings 2 games in a row. On Detroit's 2nd goal, Hossa clearly slashes and hooks Dupuis.( BADLY. BAAAAAAAAADLY.) He slashed him so hard, the stick busted in two, which resulted in a scoring chance and a goal for the Wings. How can you clear a puck when their man, using his stick to make a slash/hook effort right in mid-ice with no call? Ohwell. BTW, what the hell was Malkin doin' on that 2nd goal? He blew that one with a dipshit check in the crease, knocking Fluery down. He then took a dumb penalty to boot. Is it just me, or are the Pens just shooting themselves in the foot? I feel it's more Pens losing than the Wings winning.

I'm proud by the way they are playing, they out hustled Detroit many times and the majority of the night, but when you can't catch a break, it wears you down to the ground. I can dig that. They aren't getting beat down like they did last year, but unfortunately the puck won't cooperate. Back to the drawing board. 7 games might be the ticket if we take 2 in Pittsburgh, so I'm keeping fingers crossed. Tonight wasn't a must win but, very important and we needed a split series going into game 3 back home. Pittsburgh can still take them and these have been very good games. Detroit isn't as good as hyped, but they are a worthy, worthy champion. We'll see how the rest of this thing plays out. We were down 0-2 to Washington also. Time to give it all we got.

The defending Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings are in the exact spot they were a year ago -- they hold a 2-0 lead against the Penguins heading on the road for Game 3 at Mellon Arena.

Yet, to them, it feels different.

"I've been impressed with how they've played," Detroit coach Mike Babcock said of the Penguins. "They play hard right to the end. They put a lot of pressure on us."

To no avail, though.

The Red Wings take consecutive 3-1 victories into tomorrow night's game, the second one of those wins coming last night at Joe Louis Arena.

The Red Wings were not as dominant in these two games as they were in the opening two here last year. In those games, the Penguins were admittedly a bit awestruck by the stage and got shut out twice, 4-0 in Game 1 and 3-0 in Game 2.

"This Pittsburgh team has played hard from the drop of the puck," Babcock said.

"They had a lot of chances, created a lot," Zetterberg said, referring to the Penguins' performance last night, "but Osgood played good and kept us in it."

Detroit knows there is lots of hockey left to be played. By no means is this series over.

You might want to cross more than that. The Wings are 3-1 their last 4 trips to Mellon Arena, including games 4 & 6 in last years finals. I expect the Wings to split in Pittsburgh (hopefully winning game 3) then wrapping it up in Game 5 here on Saturday.

What happened to the Penguins being so much more improved and all that. I don't recall you saying the Penguins will have to be lucky to beat the Wings.

YoungJRNY wrote:Detroit isn't as good as hyped.

All the hype has inflated the Penguins. The Wings have the past decade plus of accomplishments and Stanley Cups. That's not hype, marketing or commercials.

I'm afraid you're not in Kansas anymore Dorothy. Western Conference hockey as a whole is superior. And the one dimensional Capitals aren't in the same catagory as the Red Wings.

I thought the Penguins played with the pedal to the metal both games against a Wings team missing Pavel Datsyuk. I thought the Wings were pretty sloppy. Haven't seen their best yet. Hopefully we get Pav back and put together a complete game. C'mon Tuesday!!! :D

I don't give a hell what you say, the Pens outplayed the Wings in many portions of the 2 games and you know it. I didn't say the Pens didn't need to be "lucky" to win these games, but luck IS apart of the game and it's your team benefiting from luck. The Pens left MULTIPLE goals on the Ice the first 2. I don't know if it's nerves, but they were there and the puck just isn't bouncing our way. You're team is doing nothing that we've never seen before. Unfortunately, the Pens need a confidence booster to put those 'sure goals' in the net. Detroit is by no means, beating us down. To my understanding, you still need to win 2 more. Coming to Pittsburgh won't be easy. This has 7 written all over it if the Pens can get past the pedestal.

I admire your cockiness, I'd do the same. But you have a long way to go.

Wow. A 6 on 5 powerplay for the Penguins. 30 seconds the linesmen watch a guy skate off the ice for no apparent reason and don't get suspicious? :? You'd think he'd say WTF is that all about then blow his whistle. Guess not.

Penalty Red Wings. Hmmm.

Penguins have great offense, usually. But their goaltending is suspect....The Bruins would have been a WAYYYY tougher opponent for the Wings....Cause Thomas is the best this year. And so was Chara.

No they're down 2 games because they're so badly outclassed. It's just the truth.

Outclassed? Yeah right! Osgood is a good goalie which is the ONLY reason they are down 2 games.

Okay Lynn. The Penguins are 2-6 against the Wings in the finals over the past 2 years and 1 of those wins was in triple overtime. They're 2-6 and the better team. Down 0-2 in this sereis and Tied 2-2 in this game without Datsyuk. Happy?

Far from outclassed. We aren't even out played. A 3-1 score doesn't indicate how close these two teams are playing, and is closer regardless of what the score says, match up wise. That was a helluva 2nd period, and if one team is so much more better than the other, then this wouldn't be close, as was the first games. Both teams are playing good, but Detroit got the best of the bounces, which is a part of the game.

Again.. the Pens are far from out classed. They are just losing what probably is going to be a tight series if they win tonight. Who knows where this is going, though. RW are the best 3rd pd team out there. LETS GO PENS.

What a bunch of predictable bullshit. The Wings will have to go above and beyond to win. As usual.

It's not an excuse. Hossa and Z dump and try to chase and get interfered with. Suddenly it's a penalty late in the 3rd period when the Wings say "Fuck it" they're letting it go. Bullshit. Fuck Bettman and his little twink Crosby. All that and the Wings still almost come away with the win.
