you had to do this didnt you?

Yes I did......and my point is more to the fact that those songs are killer songs and maybe need to be practiced a bit more to give the preformance that they deserve. I guess alot of the fans of the current line up don't even know how they are suppose to sound or care for that matter. :?

Ok, then let's pull out some FTLOSM tour clips and listen to Perry stagger through certain songs. What's your fucking point? The fans go there with open hearts and minds and simply want to enjoy the music. This is all about you not being able to deal with that. If it's "spot on" renditions you're looking for play your fucking loonPod.

Yes Dan I know Dan...just my opinion Dan......now I will go back to my corner....and I have a IPOD not a LOOONPOD....as I have other music on my IPOD not just Perry in a loop!

Why do you care? Besides, that was pretty fucking good and I don't even like Patiently...never will. Proof positive that you have sour grapes over Journey having new fans. You want to decide what the fans should and shouldn't know. Doesn't work that way.

PS I don't think it's a coinncidence that these were first performed at a casino show for an almost entirely casual audience. Seems to me that they do care. This was basically a trial run. I think it went well.

I am on the grouch couch with ya.....NEAL knows that those songs should be left alone and still here we go....lets use the Perry stuff......it just makes me dislike the band more!!!

I disagree wholeheartedly with this. The door is wide open for Perry, but he chooses not to sing. I don't hear any complaints that Castronovo is playing Smitty and Dunbar's parts, or that Cain is playing Rolie's parts. So just because Perry chooses not to sing, nobody should enjoy the privilege of seeing Journey play live again? Those songs don't belong solely to Perry. He was doing the FTLOSM tour singing Journey's stuff. They have every right to do the same, seeing that they ARE Journey.

Good morning Portland. :D ;)

Good Morning Rick how to hell are ya! I know we disagree on these things but I will still put up my opinion as I am not a Shrinking Violet by anymeans. I just think that the stuff should have been practiced a bit more it seems like AP was not singing full out JMO. I guess WCTNGOF has a special place in my heart and I just like it the way it is....it was never preformed by Perry live and I really love the song.

So anywhoo....I know I will be beat down but I still post in the big girl forum so let me have it

Oh my what a beautiful live rendition. It was 2 of the songs Arnel's been asking Neal. Thanks Neal, you gave Arnel the best gift!

Look at it this way. They could have played TDTWT or WIN. They went with a Song that is a classic. This just proves Steve Perry will always be part of Journey when the music he and Neal wrote is preferred over brand new songs.
They changed up the setlist and I applaud them for that. Too bad they waited until the tour was almost over though. A lot of fans are going to feel like they missed out but this was Arnel's night for sure.
Let him sing the songs that he admired the most from Perry. Everyone should be happy, loons and pinheads combined. With the band supposedly going in a heavier direction, these moments might not come around that often.

Example:

The upcoming documentary, focuses on Arnel.I guarantee there will be bitching because it's not telling the same story we've all heard before. "journey was doomed, but not to fear....Steve perrys nose is here!"

Yet if it was the full history, I guarantee people would claim they are cashing in on the legacy and only bought it because of Perry and don't have the balls to toss it behind.

So this is how a porn star feels getting double penetration every night.

On topic: WCTNGOF....I hope someone youtubes that shit.

If you have been lurking here, then you know that's how we roll around here. No need to be confused. If you want it missionary style, go hang out at Journeymusic or Plokkerville.
If you want to hang here, then lube all your holes and prepare for entry.
Simple.

thanks for the youtube. arnel has a lovely voice. his difficulty with articulation is distracting. he can't seem to pronounce the 's' as the last sound. apples and oranges, no one will ever duplicate the original and i wouldn't want that. what was, was, we're all older now. let days gone by live on in our memories.

i don't have a problem at all with journey playing older stuff. it's a helluva lot better than the same old songs night after night and i imagine more fun for the players. i simply took issue with 'arnel capturing hearts with these songs' comment and as i stated- i'm just an old grouch. i'm happy journey has new fans- someone has to keep going to shows and i'm certainly not. more power to them.

1st bolded point - Agreed. It is very distracting and gives the music a sense of illegitimacy to me... he does have great pipes, that's a given, but I can do without the accent.

2nd bolded point - Taking issue with a subjective feeling felt in the heat of a live performance just doesn't jive with me. People are entitled to be moved, regardless of whether it's the original singer or the 200th singer

Stellar performance by AP. And more importantly - going from Patiently to Why Can't This Night Go On Forever back to Patiently is brilliant. Well done, Journey. That's the kind of stuff people have been dying to see.

I challenge anybody to find fault with Journey's choice to add these two gems into the set, and then blending them together like they did. That's not playing it safe. Plus, I think I saw that Feelin' That Way / Anytime, Higher Place and Keep On Runnin' were also played, along with the three from Revelation they've been playing. I know it's expected for them to branch out in longer sets like they played at the Borgata last night...but this was unexpected.
