If you don't want the federal government to teach your children, then send them to private school. As long as the Constitution is still in enforce, your church is still safe. What gun rights have you lost? The last time I checked, it still a 2/3's majority of the Congress or the People to Change the Constitution. The only thing that has happened is that Gun shops have made a lot of money on fear mongering. Since you seem to know Obama's heart and true motive, you might have reason to be afraid, but I think this is just a blip on the scene of American History and we will overcome. The Republicans will have big gains in the House and Senate next year and the Government will do what it does best, nothing.

And as a Christian, you should be praying for your Muslim brothers to find the truth, and that won't happen while you are disparaging them.

LIBS? Because I asked you a question about your views I'm considered a liberal? First off, after all these years I'm still trying to figure out American politics and views on issues.

As an outsider, I'm glad that I don't have to pay thousands of dollars a month for top notch health care (I do pay for dental, vision, chiro, massage, physio, persriptions, etc through my work) but I know that most of my expenses will be covered by the government.

Having my uncle get flesh eating virus while he was in Florida, and was their for almost a month and getting a bill for over 35 000 USD just blew my mind. Luckily he bought travel insurance and his Alberta Health Care covered that.. I think he only ended up pay a couple hundred dollars once he got back up here.

I'm sorry, nobody should have to GO BROKE because they get sick.

I'm also pro gun.. don't get me wrong.. If I could own a handgun without jumping through a sh*tload of hoops up here, I'd own one. Maybe a few rifles as well, but I don't see the need for an Uzi or a Tec-9.

I heard from a very good source that Obama is very close to banning all pork products in the USA, you better stock up now.

You want your country back? It's still fucking here! Bush did more to shit on the constitution with things like illegal wire tapping (among others) and torture than anyone else. We lost a lot of rights and our moral compass in the previous 8; it'd be nice to get some back.

Where did Obama say he'd close Walmart? Quite frankly, I hate Walmart for a variety of reasons, but if you want to give them your money, go for it. They've impacted a lot of folks in a negtive way (i.e. WM rolls into town, Mom & Pop close).

Well, let's see ... there's this wonderful thing called evolution. Have you heard of it? Darwin fits in nicely - his theories have been fairly proven. Last I checked there is supposed to be some separation of church and state, and science fits nicely into that whole school thing. I wouldn't want Jesus or creationism anywhere near school kids. If you want that, send them to a private Christian school

As a Jew, I don't want to go to church. I want what we have now - the freedom for ALL religions to practice whether you're Jewish, Musilim, or some form of Christianity (Catholicism, Baptist, etc.), Buddhist, etc. Heck, be an athiest for all I care.

II don't think Obama is going to close McDonalds or BK, but quite a few Americans could stand to lose some weight. There is an obesity problem in this country, and a lot of it is due to our diets, inactivity, as well as the food itself with some of the chemicals they put in. If you want to lower health care costs, people should be healthier to start with.

Hey Darren.. WTF? Communist? Thats a bit harsh.. Our system is based on the British, not the American and certainly not like the Chinese or Russian. Remember, we were the ones that stayed loyal to the British when the Americans started their Revolution.

That sounds like how the health care system was in my country about 20-30 years ago across the country and actually still sounds like what it is in certain provinces and territories.

Alberta though is the most "right" of all the provinces in Canada. For nearly 20 years we had a very right wing provincial government that cut education and healthcare, and when money was good (when Oil was over $100USD a barrell) the government put back some of what they cut. But now that everyone including this province (albeit not as bad as some areas of Canada or the US because of the Oil driven economy) is in a recession, the cutbacks are starting again. I'm lucky to be teaching again this past year, because the last school I was at had to release me due to budget cuts. All rural and urban school divisions (about 53 of them in the province) have to cut a total of 80.3 million dollars out of their budgets this year alone. Some had monies given to them for refurbishing schools, grants, etc and now they are told they have to pay them back. I'm glad I got on with another division that actually hired almost 40 new teachers and was able to handle the payback without affecting the children.

Its because health care is doled out via Provinces that we aren't ranking as high as we used to be, more Provincial governments are trying to save money by allowing more private clinics in for other types of surgery. In some of those private facilities, the level of care isn't as good. But the wait lists are shorter.

The other thing is finding doctors.. in rural areas (I'm not sure what its like in the US) they are overloaded. The Alberta government is trying to still recruit, but there's only so many that come out a year. Many do come from South Africa and Europe last about 3-5 years here and then move on to practices that don't burn them out, 10 years into their careers.

It may be facing its challenges though Darren, but I would still have what we have then a full US system the way it stands now.
