Hey. Thanks, Suite. I just caught a little segment on Carrie Ann. Not sure if she had been on earlier. Good for her for going back and graduating from college.

I saw it last night. I think all 3 of them came off well. Dennis didn't steal his daughter's thunder too much, Suzanne only came off a little overbearing, and Carrie Ann seems to be remarkably well adjusted to be raised in Chaos. Good job and good publicity for all concerned.

I thought the whole show was done quite well and was interesting to watch. I enjoyed the little bit of new information and photos, as well, from Dennis, Suzanne and CarrieAnn.

The DeYoung's have done a commendable job raising two well-adjusted, smart, positive kids in sometimes not the most positive of circumstances.

I liked this pretty well. For me the most interesting part was actually when Dennis spoke so forthrightly about his breakdown and its aftermath, and Suzanne as well. He has never really said "I flipped out" before, and I have never before heard Suzanne describe him as "sick" during that time, either. Interesting. I still wish someone would just have the balls to ask DDY outright about mental illness. Everyone tiptoes around it. I bet he would answer that and not even blink.

I hope all is well.

He's talked about it before openly and that's when he wrote the song "Why Me". From what I heard, he won't play that one live in concert.

Interesting, I somehow missed whatever interview where he said "Why Me" was inspired through mental illness. Do you remember where you saw that? I'd love to read it. He always used to say he got hit in the head with a baseball at ball practice and said, "Why me?" LOL. Of course if you read through all of Dennis' past interviews, there's an obvious thread that emerges because he says of various songs, "I was pretty depressed when I wrote that song, and that's why I wrote it." I've always figured that, like a lot of artists, depression was the underlying motivating factor for a lot of his creativity; depression being ther spur for needing to create, and the art itself being a way to try to alleviate depression.

I hope all is well.

Ironically, it was the reason for one of his most positive, uplifting songs, Come Sail Away....The depths of despair brought us Angels and Dreams...
