JACK BLADES WANTS DAMN YANKEES REUNION:
Nothing we haven't heard from Jack before....but for the record, this from Classic Rock Magazine:
"Jack Blades has revealed to Classic Rock that he would love to do a new Damn Yankees album. However, the Night Ranger bassist/vocalist says there are practical problems: “You try to co-ordinate everyone's schedules! I talk all the time to Ted [Nugent], and Night Ranger are about to tour in America with Styx, so Tommy [Shaw] and I will get the chance to write. But, at the moment another Damn Yankees album seems a long way off.” Blades, though, is working on a new solo album, and also a second record with Tommy Shaw.
“We hope to have the have the Shaw Blades album [to be titled Influence 2] out soon. It's got some cool stuff. We've done a version of Elton John's Tiny Dancer, with Bun E. Carlos of Cheap Trick on drums. It's come out so well.”

In my mind I'm thinking, "Ok, you're saying you want to do the Damn Yankees thing again, but time/scheduling get in the way...yet you have time to do another project with Tommy?" Granted, it sounds like another covers album -- I didn't get the first one, another small tour will probably ensue. I'm sure it'll sound good just because of the talent at hand, but it's frustrating to keep reading glimmers of hope only to have the line yanked away again.
Any other thoughts?

Styx fans and Damn Yankees fans...the need for new music is not there. Get over it. If they thought it could get radio play and do numbers, they would do it in a second.

Hopefully if this is true, I can see them this time.

And, yet the 'need' for another shaw/blades cover album IS there? I think that misses the point anyway. I think they did Shaw/Blades because they wanted to, not because the public 'needed' it. It's just another creative outlet outside of their own bands.
Sorry, but I think adding Ted and doing DY would far outsell Shaw/Blades. And, the 'need' for a new DY album has been within me for a long time.

From my understanding - everyone - including Michael want to do it. Jack, Tommy, and Michael have time in the Fall and Winter - Ted won't give up his hunting - so that doesn't work for him. If they are to do it - it'll have to be a Spring / Summer project.

I assume the problem is scheduling time with Ted, maybe? Or, perhaps Michael?
I would prefer they take the DY sound into Shaw/Blades, if another DY album can not be done. A covers album is OK, but I would like new music.

I interviewed Jack very recently - since this Classic Rock piece came out in fact - and asked him about this very thing, and he explained that since Night Ranger is touring with Styx, it makes it possible to do his thing with Tommy. He also explained that if everyone were as into a DY reunion as he and Michael, then it would happen. He pointed to Tommy's schedule with Styx as the main thing that's keeping it from happening. It's one thing to squeeze in a few SB dates, which they manage, but DY would have to be a real tour and that's hard to schedule with Tommy being as busy as he is. You can listen to this interview here http://www.wewillrockyoublog.com/2009/1 ... -part-two/
I hope all is well.

I am actually excited about Influence 2. Loved the first Influence. Always said Tommy acoustically blows away Tommy the rocker...

I'm reading this thread and thinking, Am I in the Twilight Zone? WTF is everyone's problem?
And then I read TOPH'S post and see that I agree with him.
Maybe I AM in the Twilight Zone!
(Well, I like Tommy the rocker too, but close enough)

No, the ideal situation and I think the most plausible would be a Ted Nugent/STYX/Night Ranger/Damn Yankees tour.
