That is so absurd i don't even no where to begin. Just because they were arbitrarily placed as PRESEASON #1, and have subsequently not lost this year....is that a good enough reason to not lose the number 1 ranking? Alabama and Texas are undefeated as well - and their only crime is not being a preseason #1.

Please don't make it so easy for me to make you look foolish.

YES... you are champion until someone beats you, if your defending champs... no matter how lame that might sound... its smart intellegent talk... LOL..

Champion and #1 are two different things.....keep working that shovel.

Wow, how many bottles of gator hater-ade do you have man???? Everytime you post its something else negative about Florida. We get it man, you dont like Florida, so what else ya wanna talk about?

It has absolutely nothing to do with Florida. It has to do with an arbitrary ranking of #1. Last time I checked Alabam and Texas were undefeated as well.

Yes, they sure are but obviously they havent done much more than Florida to constitute making a change. Lets see how it shakes out in 3 weeks, and then in early January.

Like the Big 10 is any good? You guys don't have one great team, not one. A bunch of average clubs vying for the Citrus and Blockbuster bowls, lol.

TCU would absolutely win your pathetic conference and you know it.

big ten is underated... the reasons their top top 3 teams can teams lose every so often is balance... LSU, Florida and Alabama can go through with ease in the SEC.. LOTS OF OVER RATED bad teams that always seem to be high in the AP polls early in the year but drop like flies as the year goes on... think ole miss...

The number of writers predicting that coach Urban Meyer will be the next Notre Dame coach is increasing. Pete Kerasotis of Florida Today is the latest, and he says that the call ultimately will come down to Meyer's wife, Shelley.

Meyer said in a radio interview last December that Notre Dame is still his dream job. (He's from Ohio, is named after a pope and was an Irish assistant for five years.) In his own autobiography, he admitted that he wanted to accept the position back in 2004, but that family considerations made him pick Florida. (With young kids at home, he didn't want the amount of travel associated with Notre Dame's national recruiting base. But Terrence Moore of FanHouse points out that Meyer's oldest daughter is already in college, his middle child is 16 and his youngest is 10.)

Clearly, the coach left his heart in South Bend in 2000, and is itching to get back. And if his family OK's the move, it very well could happen in the next month.

They left off the fact that he stated he planned to be the Florida coach as long as Florida will have him. He said that earlier this year after the original set of rumors surfaced. I would be surprised if he went to ND. But then again I was surprised when Spurrier left. At Florida we will continue to have the next great coach even if Urban decides to leave. Our athletics department learned from major mistakes when they brought in Ron Zook-this is not a job for anything less than the best. I still say though the Cinncinnati coach goes to ND first.

I think all the current speculation is due to the fact that Weis is already gone - just hasn't been told yet... :)

That is true also John. I do know that Urban's wife Shelly loves living in Florida and Urban's oldest daughter is on the volleyball team at Georgia Tech. Maybe that will keep him close!

Meyer would be fucking crazy to leave Florida. He's got it all...backyard recruiting, warm weather, proximity to his family and a coaching staff in place. To go where...a frigid place in the middle of fucking nowhere where drunk priests run around jizzing on each other and roll around in alumni cash???

Another riveting fucking weekend of college football. How did Florida ever manage to get by Florida International? I guess the same way Alabama managed to squeak by Chattanooga  On another note, what the fuck is up with Les Miles on that final play of the game? What a fucking dumbass. Shit, a Pop Warner coach would have been smart enough to understand that with one second left in the game and no timeouts, that spiking the fucking ball is about as moronic as it gets. The guy should be fired just on that one play!

maybe he thought it was college basketball... where there is 1.5 seconds on the clock... that was the DUMBEST thing I ever saw!! LINE up the KICKER for god sakes... the refs gave you all day to at least line up for the kick... at least give it a go... and nice to see ND losing... MICH OSU... not like it used to be...but Mich hung tough for 75 percent of the game... OSU is sure on a HIGHER PLAIN than MICH right now... The Hawks will play in a BCS game this Janurary... mark my words...THAT fan base that will bring 50,000 people to any venue will get the nod over an Oklahoma State team... 2 loses doesnt matter...
that fan base loves to follow that team...

Therein lies THE PROBLEM with the BCS and college football. They award bowl games based on which school's alumni is supportive and wealthy enough to travel to a bowl game. It's a MORONIC system that anyone defending needs a kick in the ass. College football continues to embarrass itself by awarding an internet "champion", season after season. It's simply fucking appalling that the BCS publically admits (Which they've done over the years) that a school "travels well" so are awarded a bowl game over another school who may be more worthy, but doesn't travel as well to far away venues.

As all teams do it was a scheduled "payday" game for a lesser OOC team. All schools do it, not just the SEC. Hell, FIU pocketed $475,000 just for showing up! And with the way Florida's offense has been sputtering lately they needed this game. Now we are ready for FSU, Bama and then whoever wherever. This saturday will be Tebow's last game in the Swamp. There wont be a dry eye in the house when hes introduced with the seniors before the game. I will be there. They are asking everyone to wear eye black with a bible scripture on it as a tribute to him. I will be wearing it.

Should be interesting to see what happens with your boy Tebow come draft day. In my opinion, he'll be lucky to carve out the NFL career that the guy whose SEC record he just broke has had as a third down back. For what it's worth, Herschel Walker's SEC record for toucdowns is FAR more impressive than Tebow's or Kevin Faulk. Faulk got the record Tebow broke in 12 fewer games (Obviously that's more than an entire season) and Walker set the record in about 10 fewer games than Faulk did.

On another note, I completely understand that not just all SEC teams do what you're referring to by scheduling these RIDICULOUS opponents. All college teams do it, and I find it offensive. They might has well play the local high school team, because that's essentially what they're doing. I know you're a college football diehard, but as a fan, you should want the sport you're passionate about to at least have some itegrity. Given the schedules and the ranking system, that game is in DIRE need of a shred of integrity.

I wish they didnt schedule as weak OOC teams. I'd rather see them schedule teams like Texas A&M, UCLA, Syracuse or Arizona but it is what it is. Its hard to get up for games like FIU. But like I said, Florida needed to re-tune the offense for the next 3 games, which are extremely big. But its an amazing feat what FloridA did leading up to FIU. 8 straight SEC games and undefeated. Im still in a "WOW" type of mindset towards that.

By the way-for all those who think Coach Meyer is considering a jump to Notre Dame you may wanna read this from todays coaches conference...
http://www.gatorsports.com/article/2009 ... mors-again

If you dont want to click then read this:
For the third time in six months, Florida coach Urban Meyer said he will not leave Gainesville to coach at Notre Dame.

“I’ll dispel those rumors right now,” Meyer said during his Monday news conference. “I’m going to be at Florida for as long as they’ll have me.”
Rumors have been swirling about Charlie Weis’ future at Notre Dame.

after the hit Tibeow took earlier in the year... I would not be surprised if he questions whether to go pro or not... he hasnt looked the same since the hit on him... still does fine, but the NFL defenses are A LOT BIGGER STRONGER AND MORE aggresive than any college defense he played this year...He will get drafted... and for him hopefully a good team where he will have time to learn the pro style of offense...

No they wouldn't! Two points...nobody is helping Detroit and Tebow isn't the type of QB who is leading any team to a championship in the NFL. It simply isn't happening. Honestly, from a technical standpoint, Tebow is a VERY average player. You can certainly never measure one's heart, so who knows what he'll do if he gets an opportunity. Brady was taken in the 6th round (199th overall) and Joe Montana was taken in the third round when he came out of Notre Dame. I honestly wouldn't be stunned if Tebow didn't even get drafted (but I think someone will take a flyer on him). There will be a team in the NFL who drafts this guy for no other reason, other than they think he may have the "it" factor, even though his talent is lacking.
