I had heard a lot of beef on She Care before actually listening to it, and while I don't think it's one of Tommy's strongest lyrically, it is still solid in my opinion. To answer your question; I don't know!

I googled: styx setlist she cares

Got nothing except people saying they wish it was in a setlist

I'm with the clam. I never enjoyed Babe live, but I'd much rather hear that than SC.

I like the song, but it is the weakest song on the PT cd.

"She Cares" make "Waiting" by JY seem like a great song.

I'm actually surprised Tommy was able to get suck a rockin' song on an album while DDY was still in the group.. :P What am I talking about, I'm sure Dennis probably really wrote those lyrics..

It's really not THAT bad of a song in general, but as Abitaman said, it is the weakest link of "PT". Name one great album that doesn't have at least one track too many.

Joshua Tree - U2
Asia - Asia
Fragile - Yes
Pet Sounds - Beach Boys
and the list goes on and on and on....

Yeah - all Tommy wanted to do was "rock" thats why, when he was free of the Deyoung leash, he came out with the most rockin' album EVER - Girls With Guns!!!! Then he followed it with the rockin power of "What If". Kneel before the majesty of rock!!!!

She Cares

Postby cittadeeno23 » Tue Dec 08, 2009 7:35 am

I saw at least one show from every single tour from Crystal Ball thru Kilroy. And I saw the Paradise Theathre and Kilroy shows multiple times each. And they did not play She Cares at any of the PT or Kilroy shows I was at. I seriously doubt they ever played it live at any show. And for the record, it's not a bad song at all. It's actually quite an uplifting song. But I will admit it's not my fav on PT. That would be Snowblind. Snowblind to me is what Styx is all about.

Well I recently saw a video on youtube from when they were up in Canada and JY said that a local group who love Midnight Ride had petitioned for years to hear it live, and so they did just that. What we need to do is unite, and petition them to play She Cares at a concert that we will all show up at!

This has me thinking though. Bruce Springsteen and Neil Young will play requests based upon random selection of a sign someone made. How would Styx react, or how have they reacted, to such requests?

They would ignore the signs, too much work for them to play a song they want to forget. Besides I think we should petition for Eddie instead.

I have a feeling they just want to play songs they know without thinking, makes their job easier. It's like making an employee at Burger King that has been making fries non stop for years suddenly have to clean a toliet. Just too much involved. As some would say "It Just A Big To Do"

Comparing playing She Cares to cleaning the toilet, that's an interesting analogy.

I would hardly say that "Snowblind" is a representative Styx song....

I remember at one of Tommy's Border concerts ( the one in Chi town that Dennis joined him ) Tommy took requests and forgot the lyrics of one of his songs. I cant remember the song but he did forget.

They'd ignore signs for She Cares, okay, but what about Waiting For Our Time? I love that song, and it's not like they would have completely forgotten how to play it.

edit: I read yogi's message, and yeah, they might have forgotten how to play it, lol. Still, that's one of my favorites from their recent years, and it would be cool to hear live.

I am almost certain that the lyrics that Tommy forgot at his Chicago Borders concert were to Man In The Wilderness. He was taking requests so he didnt have a clue what his fans were going to ask him to sing. If I also remember correctly on another request a person asked for a song from Shaw/Blades Hallunication and Tommy kind of laughed and didnt even attempt it.

Ive got like 4 of these concerts and they are really good. The one with Tommy & Dennis in Chicago is an ABSOLUTE classic. If you ever see this it will lead you to believe that maybe one day..............................

I give myself a B+ for this post.

Also i saw one with dennis there and someone requested queen of spades and tom was about to do it but dennis said no wonder why? Also want to know why he doesn't like that song very much it's a killer tune.

I didn't say Snowblind was a representative song for Styx. But to me, it represents what Styx does best.
In your face guitar solos, eerie keys and unmatched vocals. That is Styx to me.

Yogi, Is there a way to get a copy of Tommy and Dennis at Borders???? I've heard about it many times and would love to see it.

'She cares',I don't mind.Kind of remind me of Todd Rundgren's Utopia, who did manage to put out some decent songs.Maybe Tommy had ben listening to 'Adventures in Utopia',around then.?Splendid album.
