Fergie singing Africa live.
A female backup vocalist does lead at the end.

Joe Williams doing Till the End

Both are pretty solid.
I don't think the band has ever had a vocalist as solid as Williams on the Farenheit tour.

This is so bad, it becomes funny.... I can't understand a word, not even in the chorus!

I have several boots of Toto, and Joseph was my favorite singer of the band. But his drug abuse at times made him struggle vocally. Siknce his Toto days, he has IMO struggled witht the material, not really the singing. But Toto wrote solid songs for the most part.

Luke has been pretty vocal about Fergie's problems, but the dude was definitely 'on' for this performance.
Probably the best rendition of English Eyes I've heard aside from versions with Jenny and Jackie.

Yeah, weird that issues with Fergie came in the studio, but (at least from the recordings I've heard), the dude killed it live. Isn't it supposed to be the other way around?

Agreed, Joe on the Fahrenheit tour might've been Toto's strongest vocalist, which is a shame since that's my least favorite Toto album. They then made my favorite Toto album but Joe blew his voice out before he could perform any of it live. I'd kill for a non-existant version of some of that Seventh One stuff played live with Fahrenheit Joe Williams on vocals.

Joe didn't sound too bad on the April leg of the Seventh One tour in Japan, and there are decent recordings floating around from that.

I think one of the reasons why he was better on the Fahrenheit tour was that it was a shorter tour (only a week in Japan in Oct/Nov 86 and a couple of weeks in Europe in Jan 87) and a far shorter setlist; his rock 'screaming', as he puts it himself, would be a hell of a strain on any voice and sure would have been even more of a strain on his had the Fahrenheit tour gone on for longer.

Obviously, his substance abuse during the Seventh One tour didn't really help matters.

Saw Fergie in concert a few weeks ago - his voice hasn't changed much at all. Still able to hit tons of high notes with his signature style.

Hey Matt, Do you have a set list from that show? Or at least share some songs that he played? Did he do anything from the Denander "Baptism of Fire" album from a couple of years ago?
