New DVD?

Postby Archetype » Mon Jan 11, 2010 2:57 am

Does anyone know of plans for a new full-length live DVD from Styx? They haven't done a proper live DVD since Return to Paradise. Full set, with interviews, backstage, etc. The Styx/CYO DVD leaves a lot to be desired as far as production, camera angles, and set list goes.

I don't think you will see anything like this happen unless they get a Soundstage gig.

Styx already has so many live DVD's there is really no need for another one.

Caught In The Act and Return To Paradise are the only full live DVDs from Styx (Other than Styx/CYO which I don't count because of bad production and horrible setlist)

Even if they do a new album, it's going to be hard to top Cyclo without Glen. His background vocals are ALL OVER Cyclo. He made that album great in my opinion.

I LOVED the CYO dvd. It was great to see the interaction with the kids. I really liked it. It made it much more entertaining to me. Loved the set list. What else could they have had (that wasn't on RTP or CITA)? I don't need to hear that stuff again. I would've liked a FULL Cyclo show actually. But, as someone said, without Glenn, it's kinda pointless.

Speaking of DVDs, where's the freakin Shaw Blades one that was hinted at???
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

A DVD is the only release that makes sense in today's market place. Since it is so simple to steal music, a lot of bands have gone to DVD as the safest and most lucrative way of selling their music. Obviously, selling tickets to concerts is lucrative as well.

JY mentioned that STYX is observing how other bands are releasing DVD/CD combos. I wouldn't be surprised if that is the road they take. They did it with the 21st Century live compilation, which I thought was a joke. But I bought it just for the live video cuts from the Main Event tour with Journey and REO.
