Good. I'd rather watch the winter olympics all year long (cuz I love them! except curling... wtf is that shit about?) than watch Jay for one night. He's an unoriginal hack and unbearable to watch. I knew his 'new' show would tank.

Leno is an unfunny douche, and a very fake seeming person. I hear many accounts of people who have met the man saying it's not even like talking to a real person, like this weird emptiness in his eyes.

The only place I've ever heard that is Howard Stern show, which I take with a grain of salt, since he hates Jay b/c he hired one of his sidekicks out from under him and has also used some of Howard's sthicks on the Tonight Show.

Jay actually has funny monologues. He's a comic. But his interviewing style was blase' for most years.

That is not why HS hates Jay. He's got a number of valid reasons, one of which is Jay being a huge asshole in person (which I have heard other places also).

Jay's "jaywalking" segment is a bit that was taken directly from Stern's show (going way way back) and renamed, but it's the same bit. The Stuttering John thing happened, yeah, but HS had his opinion about Jay way before that.

If Jay is unfunny....what the heck is Conan?? I have never once even cracked a smile while watching him. (which I don't do often). I have always been amazed he even lasted on the air for a year when first came on late night.

These late night shows fail because of the interview portion of the show......

They should consist of monologue, up and coming comics, and a musical guest.....this is not rocket science.

Even fewer people would watch if they cut the big name celebrity interviews. The only times these shows normally get buzz outside of their time slot is when a celebrity gives a weird/scandalous interview.

Wrong. Apparently it is rocket science, b/c so few can pull this off and make it a continual success. Look at all the ones who thought it was easy and failed. The few who can pull it off night after night have something special.

funny thing is its NOT supposed to be rocket science...its tv... ;-) shows work because the connection between the audience and the host... and the few that have worked... Carson, Letterman... Jackie Gleason, Carol Burnet, Sonny and Cher, Jack Parr to name a few... I say throw Conan, Fallan Kimmel out... why not try a woman... Would Tina Fey work???

I couldn't care less about hearing how Cameron Diaz takes her coffee at Starbucks, or that Tom Selleck secretly listens to the Jonas Brothers. or even why Martin Short doesn't like shopping at Xmas....

I'm tired of seeing these saps plug their latest $100 family of four movie excursion.

Give me comics, comics, and more comics.....A&E evening at the improv sort of thing.

The only thing I like about the late night shows are the monologues...That's it. Guest performances and interviews are about one log short of a completely filled toilet.

They are missing the entertainment that Carson made out of the interviews. I found his interviews to be funnier than hell. Now it is all scripted and pretty damn boring.

Conan does the best job ad libbing during the interviews. Letterman has tanked. Leno is average.

NBC seems lost. Wow...they seem to have no leadership. Embarrasing for them. I feel bad for Conan and Leno...at least as much one can for a couple of multi-millionaires.

I agree with you on Johnny. I see clips and it makes you realize how great he was at it. He was the best.

Letterman used to be great years ago, and now you can tell he's going by the pre-interview even when it's not working. So lame. Sometimes he veers off , but not like he used to. But he still can give some good zingers and way above Leno in interviewing -- or at least used to be.

Conan isn't bad at all and does ad lib, so can make it funny.

Leno used to be the worst. He would stick to the preinterview material do or die. But the last year b/f he left he got much better. B/f that it was painful how there wasn't much spontaneity with his interviews.

Hmm, it'd be interesting to see the contract. Non-competes aren't often enforced in a sweeping manner. I gotta imagine Conan's case would be stronger.
