Note to Jamie Foxx...

Please.
Go Away.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

I tuned in right after the start of the Michael Jackson tribute. Other than not having 3D glasses on hand, I thought it was pretty well done (I can't believe I just said that).

I am no fan of Celine Dion, but she actually sounded pretty good. I fast forwarded the dvr to the Les Paul tribute which was ok. The Haiti Bridge over Troubled Water bit was ok too. I'd like to hear Neal Schon (oops wrong board) play with the opera dude. That would be one hell of a duet.

My only question is, does Lady Ga Ga really have a "thing" or not? Just kidding, but I heard she was pretty good with Elton as well.

Shinedown is AWESOME, Staind is AWESOME

Nickleback is tremendous( very early Def Leppard like), Seether is very good, there are many many other good acts & CD's

Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Mylie Cyrus, & The Jonas Brothers are as good or better than any of the bubblegum from our youth.

The music is still GREAT. Pick up Shinedown's 'Sound Of Madness' or Staind's 'Illusion Of Progress'. They are The Grand Illusions or Escape's of our day. It's EVERY bit as good as what we had.

You are just getting old!!!

Taylor Swift was awful. Couldn't believe how off pitch she was. Listen to it on Youtube.
Her record company is coming to her defense claiming bad monitor mix. Maybe so, but wow...

it's no surprise. she couldn't sing on SNL either. her strenght is her songwriting/storytelling and not her vocals. LOL however, given the choice, i'd rather take my kids to see swift who actually plays an instrument, writes her material adn sings marginally well than to see brittney, who lipsyncs, autotunes, and looks like something you'd find at a vegas whorehouse.

I agree. My wife introduced me to her music, and while I still view her as more of a teen idol, she does have the ability to write a good pop song, which is more than we can say for most of her peers.

As for her voice, not that singing isn't important, but since American Idol, it seems like all that we really care about is how good someone sounds. Isn't it fair to say that some of the greatest legends didn't exactly have spot on vox? Not that she's in that class, but would Dylan, Elton John, or even Lennon have made American Idol?

I thought the Grammy's was good overall. Jamie Fox, awful. The duet with Taylor and Stevie, ughhh. Pitchy, off-key for Taylor. And the rest of her performance was just okay (Taylor). Thin, flat vocals. That she won album of the year or whatever the title was is just wrong, but she is talented for her age with songwriting and catchy songs.

Pink ruled the night. Amazing. And no, she didn't lip sync. She has stated she's 100 percent against lip syncing. Beyonce was great. I enjoyed the duet with Lady Gaga and Elton. The Lady Antebellum group, that I had never heard of, were really good, very heartfelt performance, I thought, and I'm not really a big country music fan. Maxwell and Roberta Flack I loved. Great to see him back. Many other really good performances. Bon Jovi seemed like a tired act to me, and I usually love them. The Kings of Leon should have performed, though. Maybe they did and I missed them.

Lady Antebellum at the Grammy's.

And Taylor doesn't Autotune???

Pink's ALWAYS good. She deserves a lot more than she has.

Had to check in to say I love the guitar in the pic, Bry! Me want.

As to Ms Swift. I am sure her voice is "tweaked" on the recordings to get her, you know, in tune. I have heard her sing live on many a program and she is always off-key so I am guessing not a lot of autotuning or backtracking is done live for her.

BTW, I agree with stmonkeys about her. She is a stellar songwriter and seems to be an intelligent, feet-on-the-ground kind of girl. A good role model in the pop music world, for a change. (And her SNL appearance still rules this year.)

To me, both Pink and Gaga are talents, vocally and musically, but are also caught up in the "can you top this?" performance aspect on stage.

As with most of these kinds of shows, you get hot messes, like Foxx and some nice gems as well. The Grammy's were/are no exception.

Thanks Bugs! My wife bought that for me on a birthday about 7 years ago. It's my favorite of my guitars.

Her RECORDS are Autotuned. I know when she was on Oprah, she was, and yet her pitch did waver.
She's a young kid, her voice will get stronger and her sense of pitch will get better. The fact that she writes and plays her own stuff is great. Not dissing her that much, but the performance with Nicks was pretty bad. I've seen Stevie be horribly off pitch too so...

Nice B-day gift, indeed!!

What I like about Taylor Swift is that she throws herself into the songs live and damn the consequences if it is not perfect pitch. I see her as the girl in "You Belong With Me", not perfection, but, hey I'm doing the best I can and I have a lot going on. I like that whole approach.

if that live performance was autotuned, they better get a new engineer! i'm sure the tweak her voice in the studio. i was refering to live performances. it's hard to lip sync in the studio unless you're someone like milli vanilli

I highly doubt she was Autotuned for her Grammy performance. The monitor mix may be a valid excuse as I've heard her on and off in performance.

Also it's not good to automatically assume someone has a pitch corrected voice on their records. Remember, in the studio you get a billion takes to get it right. Only those truly devoid of talent need it in the studio. Taylor Swift is not devoid of talent. Spears is devoid of talent and what you hear on the record is not only pitch corrected but it's only half her. The other half is a session singer.
