I have a theory and this comes to mind when I see the name "Kevin Chalfant."

The dude had SO many chances at Journey and could have EASILY been in place and could be Journey's frontman today, but yet, was always passed over. My theory is that he is one of those people that have a chronic, sweaty asshole that reeks up the whole joint to the point where NOONE ever points it out to him, which ultimately leads to noone wanting him around. I had a friend once like that, and it was hard to tell him to wash his cracks. This has to be the Chalfant experience because the dude should of atleast been givin' a strong opportunity, so I bet his butthole is constantly on reek. There's no other explanation on why he wasn't Journey's front man at ONE point or another.

I had a dog with that problem. It needed to have it's anal glands expressed. Google it.

I DARE someone to suggest that to him face to face at MRF. I'll give ya $20.
  "Dude, you need your glands expressed. That's why Journey never hired you."

10 beers in, it'll be me. Just kiddin, I'll be long passed out underneath some table before the setlist is a goner. I would however pay, like yourself, to see somebody take the reigns and go for it.

That's why I don't question that he wasn't hired. If the band felt 100% or if he was 100% the guy, he'd have been hired. Apparently he wasn't . Sometimes it takes time to figure things out, especially if feelings are just lukewarm to begin with, hence the yo-yo thing.

That's cuz Perry didn't want to play right up until he was gonna get replaced, then all of a sudden he wanted to play.

Exactly! I love how SP always gets blamed for tanking Chalfant's chance and "ruining" their opportunity to move on.

money talks and Perry deserved the right to return. But Chalfant should have still been given the chance in 1998.

What? Perry was like a jealous ex-girlfriend. He hears his ex is dating a new hot girl and gets jealous, all about ego, and realizes his ex isn't pining over him anymore. So pulls out all stops and breaks up the new couple (Chalfant/Rolie/Journey) and gets the ex back. Then once that thrill is over, he loses interest again and it's over. Sound familiar.

Neal was happy to be back with the CASH that Perry brought in.
If he was happy to be back with Perry, he wouldn't have hired Augeri.

He waited and waited and waited. Perry not touring cost them a lot of money. Perry is the one that was just happy to be back for the cash for the album and then lost interest.
Poor Neal and Jon.

Once again BJG ^^^^^ this is all you!!! and I KNOW YOU CAN HANDLE IT!!!!

And Chalfant didn't return for sloppy seconds.

Arnel is where the betrayed ex, after some affairs, finally finds true love again.

So then why didn't he break them up after they started going out with one that looked and sounded just like him? (to the untrained, anyway)
He could have wandered back at ANY moment since then too. He didn't. He said "fine, go bang that ho, you're not gettin' no more of THIS action."

It was totally about the money for Neal and the Frigpie. If they were soooooo about the music, why did they just drop the Chalfant thing like a hot potato (if I have the story right...) That went out the window awful quick didn't it? So that means Journey is the ex boyfriend that dumps the average looking girl when Super Jugs comes walking by.

And while we're at it, the Journey entity has really never been a very faithful parter have they? They dumped on FOUR singers for another offer and that's not even counting Kevin!

Well it did not matter....they went all in when he came back now didn't they!!!

Exactly! I love how SP always gets blamed for tanking Chalfant's chance and "ruining" their opportunity to move on.
Neal & Co. could have said fuck off and they didn't. They said CHA CHING. Give me a break.

This is pure bullshit, Kim. They couldn't have said no. The fans wanted it and they took the dude at his word. That was their only mistake. No one would have went to Journey concerts if Perry was waging a PR campaign had they told him no and went with Chalfant.
