They played a club in Tokyo about 10 years ago, but not the Tokyo Dome. Big difference!

And they play a side stage at the superbowl bigger difference.

Really? When was that?

The proof is in the pudding
They leach in front of all these people and they still can't sell cds
The fans don't buy warm up acts Zan and Styx is just that
Nice try though

Don't forget they played many years leaching around the superbowl.

Nice try? Nice try???
You are laughable, Froy.
You said "side stage," as if you had some magical gem of wisdom, not me.
Fact: They played the Super Bowl twice. Both times in the stadium and one was a double header with a show outside as well.
YOU. Are. Wrong.

I don't think that is the point. Their performances weren't televised (I don't think, hell, maybe they were in some places), but they were not side-stage, like Freud claimed.

The show outside as well
What does that mean?
Hey they leach its no secret.
So they played at the superbowl 3 hours before it happened
Thats is called opening act to the opening act to the opening act
Are they proud of that?
You want facts those are the facts
Play in front of huge crowds that are there to see other acts like Nascar and The SuperBowl
Big deal

Show me a 50 thousand crowd that was there to see the current Styx without Dennis.
Go ahead I dare you.

these pictures are from 9 years ago and the band has fallen ever since
Not so good when you play in front of so many people

Compared to what? Name twenty 40 year old bands that can still draw anything. The bands that are still around are all past their prime. Aerosmith, The Who, Rush, Journey, Boston, etc.. are not going to sell 1,000,000 cds anymore. Rock and Roll is designed for the 13-29 crowd. The fact that any of these bands still have any kind of game at all is amazing. The fact that the twenty or so of us are still talking about them 40 years after they started is phenomenal. None of us listen to Top 40 anymore because we're not in our 20's. To expect any of those bands to appeal to that crowd is delusional. Would they draw more if they toured once every 4 or 5 years with Dennis? absolutely. But they wouldn't be playing to 1/3 the number of people they've played to the last 11 years.

Tommy and JY wanted/needed to tour. Dennis didn't. I don't disagree that this split was about money, it always is. The only way Styx will be back together the way you want it to be is for Dennis to agree to 125 gigs a year and that ain't happening.

That's what I think. Styx is still successful for an 80s band. At least, they're not playing at Epcot to 100 people standing around, like many older bands. These guys still get to do what they love at an age where many musicians don't have that luxury and they get to make a nice comfortable living doing it and still have a lot of people that want to see them. I'm sure they feel blessed.

I stand corrected. That was Super Bowl XXXVII, in 2003 - in San Diego. PACIFIC TIME 2:55. 35 minutes before the game started. Duh.

I'll see what I can do. I wasn't there, so it's going to be hard for me to obtain a ticket stub, Froy (you are such a 'tard for asking for that). They were a headliner, as was KISS & Sting on other days, but that's all the info I have at the moment.

And just so's were clear: You ARE aware that they played the Superbowl 30 minutes before the game now, right??? Just want to make sure you read that part. ;-)

OK! July 15th (this is in French, Froy - try not to wander off drooling somewhere)

2 acts:

Jonas (not Brothers)
STYX (headliner)

Le 15 juillet, Jonas fera la première partie de Styx.
