Need help with project from school please.

Postby gr8dane » Fri Feb 26, 2010 9:13 am

I got the project last Monday and need to bring a list for this Monday coming up.
I need to name 20 bands who are still together.
They must have been together since around 1976.They must have the same members.
They must still be around. They must still put out an album approximately every 3 years.
All the albums must have gone platinum. They must make a tour for each album and do 150 gigs in a 3 year span after each album.
Each show must have at least 30000 people paid admittance. Each tour has to be in the top 20 grossing tour on pollstar.
I am getting a little short on names,so any help is appreciated.
Thanx in advance everybody.

It's interesting you brought up Triumph, they were disbanded what 25 years before they got back together. I think Styx would have a similar situation if the three guys had to be together to play as Styx. BTW, isn't YES touring now without their lead singer?

Thanks for the laugh. Needed it. Heck, even folks like McCartney and the Stones don't meet the criteria for platinum albums.

Well,I am sorry froy.We did not do very well.
Def Leppard are on their 7th lineup. It has to be the same lineup.
Yes-Many lineups.Has to be the same lineup.
Rush-OK that one works
U2-OK,though they started in 78,but what the hey.
Triumph ,as mentioned ,no,because out of the loop for 25 years.
Elton and Neil band's don't count. They are hired hands.
Cheap Trick-Original bass player was out between 81-87.
And when they were in Toronto a month ago, they were playing in a place that holds 1200 people.
Oakridgeboys-Boybands don't count.

C-.

Let's try the 'more' you said you had.I was given another 2 days to do better.

actually, zz top is prob the only band around that has consistently had the same group members on every album. (i have to double check, i think htey released their first album in the late 60s) u2 would prob be next. they formed in the late 70s.

They have indeed been around the required time. But they had some pretty 'lean' years in the 90is and the 00's.
What they also got working against them, is that they spin their bass & guitar around. No instrument spinning.A big no no to some people.

That's ok as long as it's no one spinning around their keyboard

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Earring
"Golden Earring are the oldest rock band that are still performing today, and Golden Earring has arguably the most stable lineup of these veteran bands. For now, Golden Earring's gigs are scheduled on a "one month on - one month off" basis. This is mainly due to lead singer Barry Hay's relocation to the Dutch Antilles island of Curacao in the Caribbean, where he put up his new residence and lives during the band's time off."

Allright folks. The bands has to fulfill each and all requirements
The ones mentioned only do one or maybe 2 the most.

Golden Earring ,excellent band, but they only tour Holland and Belgium these days. But hats off to a
long or longest history.

AC/DC,new singer, and original drummer out for years(taking care of alcoholism.) with Chris Slade from Manfred Mann's Earth Band filling in.

Eagles,several former members.

Night Ranger and April Wine ,Hardly.
Fine bands but no cigar.

This is not a trick question.

Thank you for asking MGirl.
It was about time for me to end this nonsense anyways.Let see how I can explain this.
Most of us here wish that Styx was the same force today as they were in their heyday 70es.
You probably wish the same with Journey.I myself am more a fan of their first 2 without Perry.
But that's another story.
The thing is that practically 0 bands are able to do this. But some folks obviously think there are loads.
So why can't Styx with Dennis,Jy,Tommy,Chuck and John.Lots of reasons. But there ain't,and there is plenty of reasons right here.
So the chance of Styx being able to do so ,is of course wishful thinking and somebody needs to wake up and get the hell over it,because
it just about won't happen for anybody. It has of course been mentioned in other ways at least once a month for years and years.
Sorry, there is no test, but I still give froy a C-.There is of course room for his improvement with higher degree of effectiveness!!!!!
He consistently misunderstands facts from fiction. He has not demonstrated the required knowledge and skills.Exstensive remediation is required.
Good luck next term.
But I thought I try this approach. Not that it well help .I had fun doing it though.

Zan and StyxCollector caught that right away, but most didn't,or did but did not want to part take for obvious reasons.
