Trivia time!

Postby Toph » Fri Feb 26, 2010 9:05 am

We always talk about the biggest hits being the ones that peaked the highest, but we don't talk about them relative to chart longevity.

There are two Styx songs that spent 23 and 22 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 respectively....name them.

Bonus:
Name the Styx song that had the longest run on any Billboard chart - 31 weeks (7 months!). Name the song and the chart that it had its run on....

The longest running Styx song on the charts would be....

SHOW ME THE WAY....ran for 23 weeks on the top 100 beginning 12/9/90, peaking at #3 on 3/16/1991.

COME SAIL AWAY......ran for 22 weeks on the top 100 beginning 9/24/77 (by the way it took CSA a crazy 4 months to reach its peak on 1/28/78!! Talk about a slow rise to the top). My other question on this was, if the album was released on 7/7/77, what were they doing for 2 1/2 months before releasing the first single?

And the longest running Styx song ever on any chart....

SHOW ME THE WAY ran for an incredible 31 weeks on the Adult Contemporary Chart, peaking at #3 on that chart as well on 3/2/91. In other words it was on the charts from 12/8/1990 through July 4th of the following year...what a chart run!!!
