You think it's that simple? People have Medicare or Medicaid and they don't have to pay? Well, that's true. The problem is that Medicare is a JOKE! It's like trying to figure out a puzzle everytime I treat a patient with Medicare because of their stupid ass rules. There are some diagnoses that Medicare will pay for, others they won't and there's not a whole lot of rhyme or reason to the methods. There are also all kinds of hidden rules. For example-a patient may not see more than one care provider in a day so, Betty decides to go see the foot doctor and her primary care physician on the same day-well, the second doctor she sees does not get paid because she can only see one doc per day. Now, does the second doctor have any idea that she's seen the first doctor already? Most likely not. Now, let's just say that the second doctor does find out about the first doctor's visit-is he supposed to tell Betty to go home and come back another day? Well, yes, I suppose so-considering that Betty is 79 years old and has to have a neighbor drive her to the doctor this is not so easy now is it??? Not to mention that Betty has no idea such a rule even exists! It's a stupid rule and trust me, I could go on for hours and hours about similar stupid rules. So, to say that government run healthcare will be better than the system we have now is a joke.

Quite the pessimist aren't we? The same thing was said about Social Security and Medicare. They BOTH worked. This will work, no question. It already has worked- 32 million people, will now have coverage. It's an inalienable right, to have access to healthcare. As a nation, the US is piss poor when it comes to health care. What good is the "best health care" in the world, when not everyone can access it? That's bullshit right there. This bill has already worked.

Our current health care system is a JOKE if you view it from my point of view,,, the CUSTOMER,,, of course youre not complaining, cause regardless, you will get your paycheck.
Also, You will not look at it from my point of view, because YOUR HEALTH CARE is FREE and INCLUDED because of your job.

This has nothing to do with how much YOU make personally. I never made any statement or assumption as of you making tons of money. But there is a lot of money being charged to the patient and the insurance companies that will lead into higher premiums and before you know it, people have to take second mortgages to be able to get a treatment.

your main concern is probably job-security. Well rest assured that even with a government run healthcare program, there will always be a need for doctors and nurses and midwives.

Its just easy for you to look away at the problems currently affecting MILLIONS of people, because its not affectting YOU and your family .

government run health care vs. none at all? seriously, are any of you against this reform even considering the many folks it will help? think of the parents of a child born with something that is considered a pre existing condition and can't get insurance for their child, women not being able to get coverage because they had a c-section, or a person with cancer being told they have reached the maximum pay out of their benefits and here's the door?? seriously, any compassion out there for the working middle class that try and do right only to lose it all because of an illness?

its only a joke in your instance because YOU WANT SOMEONE ELSE TO help you pay for your health coverage.

Everything the government touches turns to shit, and they want to run our health care?!?! :? Honestly, it's no wonder the symbol of the democratic party is a jackass. It simply fits. Just look at the geographical location of where the majority of the "Yay"votes came from ... the filthy, congested, inner-city cesspools where crime, gangs, drugs and unemployment are the norm. Reform is badly needed, but this was a vote against the American way, against hard work, against being proud and having dignity. It was a vote rewarding failure, cowardice, laziness and big government. It's like forcing your sister to break up with Charles Manson and making her date Mike Tyson. Yay ... big upgrade.

I say we pick another war with a country we have no business being in, watch our kids die for no reason and spend trillions upon trillions on it to the point of suicide. This healthcare reform is a great stride for future generations such as myself and my children. Good for the U.S for having balls and actually stepping up for the American people.

It's a comforting feeling to know that millions upon millions of hard working people who work their hands to the BONE will sleep tight tonight since they can now make that devastating decision on whether to buy groceries, or to take care of their sick suffering child with Leukemia a little easier.

This is what it ultimately comes down to. People who have care and money, don't see any reason for this bill. Look no further than those moronic tea party douches. You ever notice they're all white? No hispanic black, any other minority- nope. It comes down to fuck the lower class, "I've got mine, so fuck you." That shit is going to end. This a culture argument really. This is about the powerful white man being scared shitless that his reign may be coming to an end. That more fairness is pumped into the country, he don't like that stuff. Well fuck that and fuck that attitude. This isn't just getting "the niggers, spics and lazy" insured. There are other hard working families, capsized by the Bush economy, now without health care, affordable health care, and they are losing everything on ridiculously priced, escalated premiums. This bill is 1/6th of the economy. Obama may have just become the best first term president ever, especially if the economy continues to improve. Who'd have thunk that.

Hmm, well, that's news to me. My healthcare is NOT free-I pay insurance premiums just like everyone else and the only perk I get from working where I do is 25% off of procedures done in the hosptial. Please refrain from making assumptions.

Behshad wrote:This has nothing to do with how much YOU make personally. I never made any statement or assumption as of you making tons of money. I don't disagree with you that health care costs are rising but the reason is not just so healthcare workers can get rich-as you imply. Case in point-a physician that I work with recently had one of his children diagnosed with a debilitating disease-he cannot afford to pay for the care and he qualified for medicaid-yes, the PHYSICIAN and his family so to imply that doctors are getting rich is hardly the case. Let's start by looking at the massively litigious society we've become-most docs pay 6 figures a year in malpractice insurance-hospitals pay in the millions because people are allowed to sue for any little thing....example, I know a girl whose child was in the hospital for a surgery-the child had an epidural so was not able to feel his legs-he asked for some soup-the nurse brought it to him, the mom left the room and the child spilled the soup on his legs-because he couldn't feel that it was hot it stayed there for a long time and he sustained burns requiring skin grafts. The hospital offered right up front to pay for the costs involved-the parents saw dollar signs and sued the hospital for a million dollars for "pain and suffering" and they won!! They had medicaid so in the end, they MADE a million dollars...and the child will live a full life with no problems related to the burn. Stories like that piss me off-there's where many of your healthcare dollars are spent.
Behshad wrote:Its just easy for you to look away at the problems currently affecting MILLIONS of people, because its not affectting YOU and your family .

Again, you are making assumptions. I am not looking away from the problems-I just think that we are only making the problems worse. And for you to say that healtcare costs don't affect me and my family....well, you have NO idea how wrong you are, Asshole.

Let's make sure you get this statement right. Good for the Democrats for having the balls and stepping up to help the American people. There wasn't a single fucking republican voting for this bill, not one.

But there is a lot of money being charged to the patient and the insurance companies that will lead into higher premiums and before you know it, people have to take second mortgages to be able to get a treatment.

I never implied that the reason for this broken system is so the workers get richer. Whos making assumptions now ???
I also know many in the medical field in our smal town here,,, 3 of my co-workers have their spouse working at the hospital,,,and each and every one of them say they pay about $25 a month for the ENTIRE family,,, PLUS anytime they have any surgeries etc,,, they insurance pays the 80% and the hospital WRITES OFF the 20% co-pay,,,, thats the kinda shit goin on that needs to be looked into,,,,, Sure, working at a hospital YOU should get some kind of benefit,
but the system itself is full of corruption, MAINLY because of the agreements between what the provider can charge and what the insurance is willing to pay , and how they both laugh when they stick it in the ass of the patient in need of care......

It's a comforting feeling to know that millions upon millions of hard working people who work their hands to the BONE will sleep tight tonight since they can now make that devastating decision on whether to buy groceries, or to take care of their sick suffering child with Leukemia a little easier.

This sounds like us^^^^^ these people already have health insurance, right?!?! And if they don't have it will be penalized for not having it, right?!?!

this right here speaks to the need of reform to the system. i love that the companies in the exchange are required to show their 'books.' why health care has become a huge money making industry seems to go against the idea or nature of medicine and healing. not to say doc and crew don't deserve to make a living, but the insurance company execs, stockholders don't need to get rich off of the sick or those trying to do it right. enough is truly enough.

Business and in particular small business, will get a tax break, and the option to buy into a huge pool, where they can get far lower insurance rates for their employees. So Lights1961, you should relax dude, you will have it easier. MG, if a person works, they will almost assuredly have the option to buy cheap, affordable insurance, thus the 365 dollar a year penalty won't come into question. There will be no reason or excuse for somebody to not have coverage.

This makes almost zero sense. Education is free and opportunity is abundant in this great nation. The overwhelming majority of those with no health insurance simply sit on their asses, collect their government checks in their government housing and now have health care also ... all on the dime "of hard working people who work their hands to the BONE." Your argument is actually against the bill.

Let's start with this statement.......FUCK YOU! I can promise you I don't make as much as you think I do.

Behshad wrote:Care to explain !??
Youre telling me that you havent had any of those single moms coming there give birth and have to pay $0 cause medicaid helps cover for it all?
and how does your elderly pay for their visits? Idaho potatoes??

HEALTH CARE that is purchased from a comapny is not free. I own my business... and WE PAY OUT OF OUR POCKET the health coverage for employees....that comes out of the employees gross earnings...

its only a joke in your instance because YOU WANT SOMEONE ELSE TO help you pay for your health coverage.
I cant wait to see in a few years... all the city clinics close down because the govt cant find the 940billion dollars to keep the clinics open...

Not you buddy,,,, I was talking to Nat! Pay attention,,, I know your healthcare isnt free,,, but those who work at a hospital get free healthcare,,,,

I dont want anyone to pay for my healthcare,,, as Jana & I both been trying to get it through your thick skull,,, HUGE difference between FREE healthcare and AFFORDABLE healthcare,,,, PAY ATTENTION!@!!!

My guess even Nat's health care is paid for by her salary and isnt free either...but I could be worng here...
