Two of my favs!! This is one of the greatest questions/comparisons I've seen around these parts in a loooong time!!
There are so many objectives, I'll need time to type them out~when I have time ... off of the top of my head, I'd say SP/Journey, purely
for the vox alone!! More later, FUN!!

More popular TODAY?!?!

Wow. Another toughie, but much closer for comparison than Elton/Neil, IMO.

I would say, just for longevity and continued presence in the public eye, Bon Jovi would get the popularity nod. I PREFER Journey w/ Steve P., though.

It would really be interesting to see where Journey would stand right now if Perry were still their lead singer. (And had the same, or close-to-same, vocal power and range.)

Change your hairdo. Change your name.
Congratulations! You're still the same.

bon jovi

journey is a better band and their classic songs are more ingrained into the public's head like "dont stop believing" but bon jovi has had hits and been selling out enormo domes all over the world since the late 80's....their last couple of albums had legitimate hits on it and they would still be considered a "mega band" in the eyes of most.

plus i think their world wide appeal for most of their career is just about unparalleled for any band. only a handful of bands has ever been on same level as bon jovi for world popularity.

If Steve Perry would have been on Melrose Place I would have given Journey the nod.

Steve had to settle with the Oh Sherrie chick while Jon was doing Amanda 'Heather Locklear'

Bon Jovi wins!!

Jon had no charisma on TV shows to me. On the Allie McBeal he was a bore. Funny how someone so sexy on stage and good-looking doesn't translate as an actor on the small screen.

Last time I checked Richie Sambora was in Bon Jovi. Guys can't be held accountable for differentiating between one long teased hair dude from another.

Jon's character Dr. Peter ????? was with Amanda ( Heather Locklear) numerous time on Melrose Place. They even lived together.

To the best of my knowledge Richie Sambora was never on Melrose Place. Steve Perry was never on Melrose Place.

This is why Bon Jovi wins!!!!

Since "Steve Perry's Journey" hasn't existed in about 25yrs, I would say that YOU are 'more popular' then they are.

Bon Jovi is doing a stadium tour this summer, if Steve Perry was with Journey no way they would be playing stadiums.

I'm not, no way they would sell out stadiums, you actually think Journey would sell 50,000-60,000 ticket venues? They would be able to sell out smaller venues without the need for package tours but that is about it.
