That would be nice b no need to worry about the condoms, i always keep a few in my wallet

Then we're gonna be calling you "daddy" before too tong. Bad place to keep those.

Right up there with the glove compartment of a car, right? That's sex ed 101 right there!! Or did that mandatory class go away along with home ec??

No, we covered that in health class, but see, it was catholic school, so the main course objective was ABSTINENCE. We were given extremely abbreviated information. "Tab A is supposed to go into Slot B after you're married, but if you let Tab A into Slot B now, here's the huge list of diseases and parasites you're probably going to catch."

Then as an extra scare tactic, they showed us the birth video.

I do know they still teach sex ed in the schools. My kids got it in 6th grade. Public school, but it is very graphic compared to my PUBLIC SCHOOL sex ed class from the 80's!! They definitely learn EVERYTHING along with disease. And all the ways you can catch disease. Lots of different ways. It's a good thing though. There are parents who object to it though. I just have to ask why???

Because they think it condones kids having sex  . We hear that at work. Funny thing is a lot of them are having it already, despite what their rose-colored-glasses-wearing parents wish to think, lol.

People are really naive. I have no problem with teaching abstinence as an option. I mean that is what I am preaching to my kids while they are young teens. But that doesn't mean they will do what I think they should, and I still believe they need to learn everything. Including the scary things, because they DO exist and they are happening. There are kids who aren't having intercourse but are doing everything else, and have the assumption that since they can't get pregnant, it's okay. Im glad the school teaches them ALL the ways they can catch the diseases. I think a lot of parents are naive on that too though.

Cubs game Saturday during MR Fest starts at 12:05 if anyone is interested. I know Gayle, her husband Tony and I are going. We'll be back in plenty of time to hear a few shitty bands leading up to the better bands at the end of the night. Being wasted will make them sound better, too.

White Sox fans (all 25 of them) are filthy. That park sucks, it's in the middle of the fucking ghetto and they caved many years ago by donning gang-friendly colors. Not to mention that Ozzie Guillen pals around with Hugo Chavez ... a guy that hates America passionately.

Honestly, nothing the school does or doesn't do is gonna affect a kid's conduct. It starts and ends with the parents, as it should.

My parents were very cool with me, never tried to dig into my life at that age for the most part, just encouraged me to be responsible in general etc. I never even had "the talk" with my parents. But my parents were interested in my life in the right way (eg they cared about what was going on, weren't too wrapped up in work or too negligent to care or never in the house when I had girls over) and respected my autonomy. They wouldn't come down the basement and "check" on me if I had a girl over or shit like that. Out of that mutual respect, I always made sure if we were gonna go "watch a movie" down there ( ) that they would get to meet the girl first and get to know her past a handshake. The respect and leeway they gave me made me police myself and make good decisions - I didn't run around fucking a buncha girls in HS even though I woulda liked to as every 16-year-old would. I respected myself a lot more because my parents cared about me making good choices, but gave me the respect I needed to figure out for myself that wasn't what I wanted to do. I know it's a tough line to tread for parents and it doesn't work with every kid, but IMO I think it's great to shoot for that area of hands-off respect but also communication of expectations.

Too much policing and the kid's bound to go the other way, but by the same token, absentee parents and the kid is also bound to do riskier and dumber shit at that age. I saw both ends of the spectrum among my high school friends. Kids definitely don't give a shit what school tells them, although it MAY be able to scare them a bit.

Wrigley is any better? There is more crime around that park than Sox Park, there is proof of that too! Wrigley smells like Urine as well, it is a nasty smelly crumbling ballpark. The lines to the bathrooms are so long that guys pee in the garbage cans and sinks, it is such a gross place. Are the nets still holding up the crumbing cement that falls? Seriously it is a dump.

I agree that it starts and ends with the parents, but I have NO PROBLEM with the school giving them CORRECT information on top of what they learn from me. It was an avenue for discussion for us, when they had their classes. I appreciated the extra help. Do you know how many parents have no clue about sex and disease themselves?? And do you HONESTLY think that EVERY parent will sit with their kids and have the open relationship you did with your parents? You may have on some of those rose colored glasses yourself   I say it CAN'T hurt and if it makes ONE kid stop and think, especially if that ends up being his ONLY education on the matter, then the program is worth it.

No, i have NO problem with it either, sorry if I was unclear. I was more addressing that to the parents/people who try and blame their kids doing shit on sex ed programs and what not, thinking that it's "corrupting" them. They need to look in the mirror. They also need to accept that kids are gonna do shit they can't control, which many parents don't, and end up making it worse by trying to run their lives until the day they turn 18 and leave home for college/work.

Sexual experimentation is natural, and should be encouraged by the parents. As long as the kid can make some sound decisions, like always using a condom, then I say go for it. Lust and need for sex is one of the few basic needs every man and woman got. It's when people (parents/school etc.) teaches kids to feel ashamed about having a sexual drive, and stigmatizes it, that it becomes a big problem.

I still to this day remember my first dirty sanchez. :)

We'll be back in plenty of time to hear a few shitty bands leading up to the better bands at the end of the night. Being wasted will make them sound better, too.

I'd rather see Barry Manilow play than to watch the Cubs, good lord why do people pay to watch Tee-ball. Go Sox!

Well, now I know you're a real Sox fan because of the fucking term "Sox park." Most of you trashy fuckers can't remember the name of the place. Kinda like Obama calling the old park "Cominskey."  More crime? Jesus, Wrigleyville is lined with million dollar 3 flats! You can walk from bar to bar all day and night without incident. Sox fans attack umpires (fact), beat people into comas (fact) and sue their own team (get today's Sun Times ... front page  ). Yeah, the lines are long and for a good reason ... the place has fans in it! I'm sure if the Cubs had 18,000 a night the lines would be short, too. And the park is in fine condition. Which is why, along with Fenway, it's voted in the top 3 parks every fucking year!

I would never teach my kids to be ashamed of sex. That isn't what any of us were saying.
