While I feel this is completely unneccesary notice it says VOLUME ONE. Wth this being said, I am assuming there is going to be a Volume 2.... Soooo if this is Vol One here is something we might see for a track listing:

1) Best Thing
2) You Need Love
3) Lady
4) A Day (with Chuck on bass)
5) Young Man
6) Rock & Roll Feeling (Chuck on Bass)
7) Lorelei
8) Midnight Ride
9) Put Me On
10) Crystal Ball

and 2-3 new songs.... Vol 2 will cover GI up to Paradise... Just a thought on Vol 1. but again, redundant. Oh and bring in an OUTSIDE producer this time around for something fresh.

It is all speculation for now, so I suppose the guessing games can continue for awhile, until a few months from now.

I will add that not liking someone's voice and stage persona doesn't automatically classify one as a hater. All in the point of view.

I do not like anything about Gowan as a performer, but certainly he is probably, from what is out there in the public record, a nice person. I just do not want to hear, or see, him sing one note of music previously performed by Dennis DeYoung.

I also think Arnel Pineda (spelling?) has an amazing, Perry sound-alike voice, and he is kind of a cute little guy, but I don't want to hear him sing one note of music previously performed by Steve Perry.

I like the music performed by the originals. Not interested in re-treads.

Exactly. They might not share the same IP, but I still think something's up with both of these accounts. The way each of the posts are written, the content and the times each post was written including the ones TNB posts upstairs above the Journey board.

blah blah blah suite do you have anything new? You're starting to sound like froy....

I do hope i get to say hi to you @ the light up show though

Since when, recently, do I sound like Froy?

If there's any new or earth shattering regarding DDY or Styx I post it or alert my DDY/Styx friends on Facebook. It's not worth posting some information on here and getting bashed from "one side or another".

Are you actually going to be at the Light Up show?

If it is re-recorded hits, I don't see them doing a lot of DDY tunes - at least nothing you don't hear live now.

Now, is there a little FU to DDY in all of this? Maybe, maybe not. I'm not going to read too much into it just yet.

Maybe it's new "reinterpretations", although I'm with everyone else - another version of f'in BCM? Next thing you know we're going to get BCM - The Hip Hop Trance Remix. (Someone has probably already done it ...)

bingo you are correct. if they do this it will be 100% to gain control of the publishing aspect of their music....that way if Burger King comes calling wanting to use Too Much Time On My Hands in a promotional campaign then as long as they use the new version of the song then current Styx can license it to whoever they like with full control and royalties associated with the publishing....plain and simple. royalties to the songwriters are only half of what is paid out in these deals....the publishing company gets the other half and they control how and where the song is used.

Except that "you've never heard them this way before". If that is the case, it doesn't sound like it will be that similar to the original. If it isn't that similar to the original then why would Burger King want to use it? No one would "get it" or understand.

They also asked Billy Idol to be in Aerosmith and guess what he had the balls to say no way Im not going to ruin the legacy of a classic rock band.
Gowan on the other hand is an opportunistic fool who ran like a chicken with his head cut off because his canada solo act was dead,
Now 11 years later he does the same stupid keyboard spin and his vocals are horrific, you need your head examined if you think this guy has talent,
I have never seen one ounce of it.

Didn't say it's okay. I said "I understand it". Ever try to sell a record to a company that is only interested in your past? It's gotta suck for them. Same with DeYoung.

Even if DeYoung WAS there, it'd be the same story. A decent record company would NOT be interested in a new Styx record. They just wouldn't. Even when they were at A&M, they didn't feel Styx was worth what DeYoung was asking for- ESPECIALLY a Shawless Styx. They waited too long and the taste of Kilroy was still in their mouths. A&M wasn't interested in a Styx without Shaw, just as you're not interested in Styx without Dennis.

If Styx came back together to try and do something new- I don't think a record company would touch them. Dennis is too interested in other projects to be concerned with keeping a BAND together, even when he's the self-professed leader of said band. Dennis had his chance to take Styx to the top again and it pretty much lies on his shoulders that they're not together. The band was sick of waiting for him. Can't blame them. Shaw put his solo, Shaw/Blades, and Damn Yankees projects on hold to basically be a part of Styx again (didn't he?)- so Shaw gave all that up... and ended up waiting for DeYoung again. I don't blame the band one second for moving on. When a guy doesn't want to work, it's the sh*ts for those that do.

Why is this so hard for you to deal with?? If you like DeYoung, support him. If you don't like Styx without him, don't bother with it and quit hanging out on a board that supports STYX. You could always start a DeYoung only board. I don't get why you want to just be so weird about it.

Sometimes, you appear to make sense and then other times, you just get weird....

Ok Tell us how it is going to benefit STYX to let Gowan sing DDY songs from STYX past and put it on a cd.
Tell us how you can have a multi platinum band sell millions of units and now you are going to turn it over to a guy who can sing at all and let him rerecord
the songs we all grew up with and keep near and dear to our hearts . You wanna know something this is not a record company ploy believe me
The 2 Babies are pissed off that Dennis has replaced them with the current band and has added there songs so they say lets FUCK HIM
The JOURNEY project with AP did not work at all in fact I never heard one song on the radio So are you going to tell me after that dumb move you understand why STYX is going to do the same thing? I would really like you to take us through the thought process and tell us what's going to happen and why is it going to work when The JRNY deal didn't?

Ever try to sell a record to a company that is only interested in your past? It's gotta suck for them. Same with DeYoung.

Why are they only interested in the past? Why are the fans only interested in the past ? You wanna know why?
Because they were a huge hit in the past with Dennis and now with Gowan they fukn stink.
So instead of being smart they are going top ONCE AGAIN redo something that my friend is another sign that this silly act has run it's course.
they are now taking the ship down in flames and fuking classic STYX fans and Dennis DeYoung

Even if DeYoung WAS there, it'd be the same story. A decent record company would NOT be interested in a new Styx record.

Your right the legacy has been destroyed by Shaw Young Brusco and Shaw's wife.

If Styx came back together to try and do something new- I don't think a record company would touch them.

I would not either they need to prove they can still jell after a few years who knows

Dennis is too interested in other projects to be concerned with keeping a BAND together, even when he's the self-professed leader of said band. Dennis had his chance to take Styx to the top again and it pretty much lies on his shoulders that they're not together.

BRY I have had a massive cronic gout bout for 3 years I could not have toured or even written music in the last 3 years.
I am on so much pain meds and steroids I need even more time to get better, If Dennis was really sick back in 1998 and these guys bailed and stole the name without giving the guy a shot at getting better they would really be scum users in my book.

The band was sick of waiting for him. Can't blame them. Shaw put his solo, Shaw/Blades, and Damn Yankees projects on hold to basically be a part of Styx again (didn't he?)

Is that a big deal ? Phil Collins does the same thing and do you can blame him?
Shaw in 84 destroyed the band and ran away coked out of his mind
Dennis still wanted him back in 91 but he did not put anything on hold he basiclly screwed everyone.

- so Shaw gave all that up... and ended up waiting for DeYoung again.

Its a lame damn excuse they all waited for each other big deal.

I don't blame the band one second for moving on. When a guy doesn't want to work, it's the sh*ts for those that do.

Than Shaw should have been kicked out in 85 and never let back in by your words.

Sometimes, you appear to make sense and then other times, you just get weird....

Froy, this has nothing to do with DDY doing Tommy songs. They put the gears in motion on a project like this before Dennis even did a show with the new lineup.

This is business, pure and simple. If these are re-records of their hits, as I said, they can do whatever they please with them. Even if it's just Tommy and JY songs, you may hear BCM, Renegade, and others promoting products in an ad near you ...

It would be really awesome if they did some Wooden Nickle era songs for this project. I hope they have Gowan do the Come Sail Away piano part like he plays it on the Styxworld 2001 album. If they really let Gowan and Sucherman shine, this album could easily make its way into Dream Theater/prog snob fan circles. The talent is definitely there now.

The songs could be nothing more than the way they perform the songs live now.

While they resemble the original versions, the are far from the way they were originally recorded.

I really hope this is the case. Todd's fills add a new dynamic to Styx music, and Gowan's classsical piano training really shows through. Those two will make this album awesome. Add Ricky's extra bass lines in Suite Madame Blue, Lady, etc and this will be a damn good project. I'll be a first day buyer.
