Dallas set list?

Postby Toph » Fri May 14, 2010 1:03 am

Well, where is this "shaken up" set list?

I mean people are dying to know in what slot Blue Collar Man was? Or Miss America? Or any of 8 songs that they play...

Does it make a difference? You're still gonna bitch and moan cause your guy isn't in the band anymore

Let's be real and get off the disappointment horse: set list shakeups are usually anywhere from 2 - 4 songs. Styx (and Dennis) can't get away from some core hits even if they wanted to. You know any changes won't affect songs like BCM, Renegade, and CSA.

Castle Walls would be an awesome addition to the set.

Did you miss Dennis singing it for the past few years? He did it quite often.

Not sure about the full set list, but it seems like they brought back the Borrowed Time Medley from 2000-ish.

He had never played anywhere near me.

11 SONGS is the entire show???

Holy crap, what I wouldn't give to have shows like that! I do nearly 50 songs a night. By the end of the weekend I can hardly talk!
Dang! Lucky bastards!

holy crap, what year is it, 1980?

Miss America? God, please either give JY something different to sing or don't have him sing lead for such short shows.
JY's gotta great backup voice, especially for high harmonies, but his lead vocals can be embarrassing.
Give Gowan more songs to sing. Let him sing Fields or More Love... seriously, the band
needs to play some new stuff.

Here's the list I suggest:

Everything All the Time
Grand Illusion
Fooling Yourself
If You Wanna Have It Your Way
More Love For the Money
Great White Hope
Too Much Time on My Hands
Love In the Midnight
Yes I Can
Fields of the Brave
Madam Blue
Lady
Midnight Ride with the guitar duel between Tommy and Jy that they used to do.
Born for Adventure
Renegade
Everything's Cool
Crystal Ball
Lights
Half Penny/2 Penny
Haven't We Been Here Before
Boat on the River
Criminal Mind
Mademoiselle
One With Everything
Come Sail Away

Encore:
Blue Collar Man
I Don't Need No Doctor
Borrowed Time

Seriously, this list would show that Styx didn't end in 1980 and let peeps know that, YES they do have other things that're cool.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

Wow. That set list is pretty lame, honestly. I absolutely love the current lineup, but I'm almost convinced that Dennis is about to put them out of business. Not sure I wanna drive three hours for that. Nothing has been shaken up at all.

I'll offer Styx a suggestion for the off chance that they might visit this site sometime.

Borrowed Time
The Grand Illusion
Too Much Time On My Hands
Snowblind
Queen Of Spades
Crystal Ball
One With Everything
Castle Walls
These Are The Times
Blue Collar Man
Lady
Fooling Yourself
Come Sail Away
--------------------------
Everything Is Cool
Suite Madame Blue
Renegade

They need to play more than 11 songs, that is pathetic. If time is the issue, they need to take Renegade out of the encore and just play the album version of the song, quite honestly last time I saw Styx, about 4-5 mins into Renegade I left, and I could still here them playing the song when I was getting into my car. I really hate it when extended jam sessions and talk sessions take away the time that they could be performing another song. I want to be on the record that I hate the 15 minute version of Renegade.

Only ONE new song from Foreigner?

Foreigner setlist

Be advised that there's a pretty strong possibility that I'll be selling my tickets soon. I'm having a lot of doubt about driving three hours for this. Foreigner's old music is terrible and Styx hasn't shaken up a thing. Any word on the Kansas setlist?

Looks like 2 new songs.

Can't Slow Down and In Pieces

But still think you are right, kinda a shame both bands can't really shake things up much.

Time is the issue, the promoter determines the designated times NOT the band. Your best bet to see the band is when they play by themselves that way you'll usually get a longer set. With these triple bill shows you'll always get the shorter sets.

Trust me I have seen Styx so many times, under every circumstance. I know time is the issue on these triple bill shows, that is why I get upset about Renegade being 15 mins long, they need to shorten Renegade on these shows.

Wow. "In Pieces" really sucks. I wish they would at least throw "When It Comes To Love" into the set. I think I jumped the gun on buying tickets for this tour. Should have waited for reviews/set lists.

The set is probably 70 - 80 minutes. The fact that they have put that many songs into the set means they have shortened them up some. If that set list is correct on setlist.fm, then I am surprised that the new single is not in it.
