Shh, shh! I think she's trying to make a joke. It's hard to tell with Phyllis. If she responds with a five paragraph diatribe, we'll know it wasn't one.

Funnily enough, not always true, but for you I'll make an exception. You never let me down in missing a trick. ;)

Now, if I can find an answer to causes of the Reformation in under 1,500 this essay will be much easier. So Phyllis, how important do you think the weaking of the papal power during the great schism was to the ultimate disintegration of catholic unity in the face of protestantism, or do you subscribe to the view that the invention of the printing press is the main factor in Luther's success compared to Hus's failure?

Love,
Kettle.

Sadly, there's very little comedy in theories on the causes and effects of the Reformation. But I always have you to laugh at.

Cool! Glad I serve a purpose! What you don't get, Ari, is I don't mind getting laughed at and often laugh at myself. You should be called on it when you get to being too bitchy and you know it. There's something else you should know....I have given consideration to what you were going through last year, though. I know that losing your mom was hard on you and you probably weren't always in the best frame of mind and using the best judgement all the time.

I think we should stick with your original. "The Real Housebound Students of MR" doesn't scan nearly so well, and SG would feel obliged to take off his frilly apron ;)

Meh, I don't use excuses to justify raising hell, cutting loose or just plain fucking up. I certainly wouldn't use a death to patronise someone or to try to score points; I do have a little class.

Thing is Phyllis, it would be a hell of a lot less annoying when you 'call' on people for being bitchy, or rude, or crass, or whatever, if you would just once pay attention when people call hypocrit on you, instead of pulling all sorts of shit out to justify yourself. I also don't understand why you keep calling for people to be nice to each other, relax, learn to take a joke, stop being so nasty and uptight, etc, but you're the one who keeps dragging out shit that happened years ago, and refusing to accept that other people do not have the same view of past events as you. Memorex wrote a great piece on the idea of differences of opinion in the Elton John/Rush Limbaugh thread, you should think about it.

Good grief! You can't be that stupid! She talked about what a tough year it was on here later after her mother died. I didn't know about her mother at the time she and I had it out on here. So after I found out I understood her behavior better. Saying I have a better understanding is in no way a "blow" in any shape or form. Get it? If you don't well thats just too dang bad...think what you want.

Ah, Standard BS response number 4. Perfectly timed.

Phyllis my dear, if you are honestly this disingenous, you might want to learn about a concept called 'context', and the related terms reading between the lines and assumption. I think you might be familiar with the last two, just sadly rather inaccurate in your applications of them.

And now, with respect to all involved, can we not get into a brawl about how in/appropriate it is to talk about my mother? Thanks for the spirit of concern Nat and Jim, but if possible, I'd rather not have her be at the centre of another round of The Seven Steps Of Arguing With Phyllis. Appreciate the thought, though :D
